the JetDirect firmware and the printers are still getting the same error, it'll be fine for 1/2 day or so, then it'll error out. Any Suggestions, HP's support is not much help Respond to this 1 we had a rogue dhcp server on the network that caused this error. by Anonymous on May 12, 2008 at 6:41am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 On this printer you do not replace the firmware, just update it from the hp site. If you have updated the firmware and still have the issue you need to narrow down what application is being used when the error occurs. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/LaserJet-4025-CP4025-Device-Failure-error-49-ff04/td-p/5094796 Once you know this then you have to contact the application manufactuer and see if they have a fix for the issue. I have seen this with a few foreign language character programs and the others I have seen it with the firmware upgrade worked. It could also be as simple as one document being used as a template which is corrupt and causes the error. by dmzcompute on Jul 28, 2006 at 11:19am http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/39866 Add comment Please sign in to comment No application is being used at the time of the error, They are sitting Idle, No Jobs being printed and no jobs in the que. - ihornsby 0 OK lets see if we can get some correct info. The 4250N has an embedded network card and I could be wrong but I do not know of any firmware upgrade for it so are we talking about the 4250N or the 4200. Just as you said you replaced the firmware, again that is upgraded via a download procedure. If in fact it is a 4250N what happens if you go into entrance menu by pressing the check mark after the power has been turned on and it starts the memory count. You then scroll down and choose to disable the embedded network card. Now leave the printer on and see if it gives the same error. If it doesnot I would lean towards issues with your network. If it still gives the error it has to be firmware or the formatter. Also make sure the formatter is for the correctg model. by dmzcompute on Jul 28, 2006 at 3:27pm Add comment Please sign in to comment This is a 4250N Printer, The firmware upgrade was done by download, we replaced the Formatter and Me
on the control panel.49.XXXXerrors, including49.FF04,49.FF07,49.FF08, and49.FF09could be hardware or software errors. The error could be caused by third-party memory, improperly installed or third-party EIO devices http://laxman-hp.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html or a specific print job and/or software application. Determine if the error http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1267627 is software or hardware by resending any jobs in progress, sending a different job from another software application, or changing the size of the current job. If the error is still present with other applications or jobs, continue with the troubleshooting steps in the next section. Troubleshooting hp printer steps Verify that the formatter light is blinking or steady. If the formatter is blinking, it is functioning properly and probably does not need to be replaced. If the formatter light is not blinking, proceed to Step 2. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord. Remove the HP Jetdirect card, third-party device, hard disk, parallel cable, or hp printer error IFR cable from the formatter if one is installed. If the error continues with accessories removed from the formatter, perform a cold reset on the printer. Ensure the HP Jetdirect card is not in the printer during a cold reset or the card settings will be changed back to default settings. To perform a cold reset, do the following: Turn on the printer. Watch the control panel. When the memory starts counting, press and hold the green(Select) button. Continue holding the green check button until the Ready, Data, and Attention lights flash once, and then stay on steady. Release the check button when the Ready, Data, and Attention light are on steady. The control panel will displaySELECT LANGUAGE. Press(Down Arrow) button once. The control panel will displayCOLD RESET. Press(Select). The printer will perform a cold reset and then continue its power-on sequence. If the printer comes up to ready, print a Configuration page. If a49error occurs from printing internal pages, continue on to the next step. Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord. Remov

I have an HP Laserjet 4350n and from time to time I am getting an error message "49 FF04 service error". What does this error means? How can I fix it. RE: 49 FF04 Service error on HP 4350n hpwizzard (IS/IT--Management) 18 Aug 06 08:31 Most 49.XXXX errors are related to processing job issues or communication problems. In your case it could be related to the processing of a specif job type like printing PDF files. Try to check the printspooler next time a 49 error appears to see what document type is being printed. Another thing to check is the current firmware version of your printer. If it's old (more than ½ a year) you might consider updating it to gain performance or solve possible issues that have been corrected. There is usually a readme file attached with these firmware updates that will explain what issues have resolved with the roll of that new firmware.
