You press Enter, but the error message does not go away. The printer will not print. Solution To bypass the cartridge alignment, do the following: Press and hold the Setup button. Press the Options button. The printer should be ready to print. If the print quality is unacceptable after bypassing alignment, follow the steps below until the error is corrected. Step 1 - Check the paper Make sure the printer is loaded with clean, unused, white paper. If the paper is not feeding properly, check the paper path. For information about how to do that, see the instructions under "If the paper does not feed correctly" at the end of this document. The printer will not print. The message does not specify the right or left cartridge. Solution This error message indicates that the printer cannot determine which cartridge is causing the error. Follow the steps below to solve the problem. Check to see if downloading a firmware update from HP might help: With the power on, open the printer and remove the cartridges. See the section "How to remove and reseat cartridges" (below) for detailed instructions. Relatch the empty carriages and close the printer. Open the printer and reinsert and relatch the cartridges. I have tried cleaning the cartridge contacts, restarting it with and without cartridges and/or the USB cable, and resetting it by plugging it in with the # and 6 keys pressed. When I turn it hp printer on, it initializes then begins flashing and displaying the "check cartridge" error. What else can I do to reset it or clear the error? It's no longer under warranty. My PSC 2355 somehow refuses to recognize the original cartridge which hp psc 2210 came with the printer. I didn't use it for some months and, just when I tried to use it again, voila! stopped working. Made some cleaning on everything 'cleanable' and yet nothing. Does any one knows any special key combo (in my printer, enabled by pressing Left+Right buttons, and then 1,2,3 or 1,2,4 bottons) which disables or overrides the cartridge checking?
