you add in your investment of ink cartridges over the printer's lifespan. That investment becomes even more expensive when inkjet manufacturers, such as HP, produce cartridges that no longer print after they http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03772927 reach a specific age. However, some HP Photosmart printers include secret override procedures you can use to bypass those devices' ink-expiration warnings. Understanding Ink Policies Some HP inkjet printers use cartridges with encoded expiration dates. These cartridges stop working after a specific time interval, relative either to when you install them or to the warranty date printed on their packaging. HP Photosmart printers affected http://techin.oureverydaylife.com/bypass-hp-photosmart-printer-cartridge-error-42399.html by this ink-expiration policy include an override procedure that enables you to continue using past-date cartridges. However, HP warns that expired ink may damage your device's printhead, which will void any remaining warranty coverage on the printer itself. Overriding Expired Ink Each HP printer that includes an expired-ink override procedure, including the Photosmart series, provides instructions on how to perform the override in at least one of three ways. You may see a warning message on a built-in display, identifying both the problem and the control-panel keys to press to continue printing. Printers that lack display screens may show a pattern of blinking indicator lights that point to the keys to press. The user guide that accompanies your HP Photosmart device may also provide instructions on how to perform the override. Bypassing Ink System Failure If you continue to print with out-of-date cartridges, your HP Photosmart may experience an ink system failure that lacks any obvious override procedure. Some Photosmart printers include a hidden restoration sequence that can bring these devices back to life. The key-press operation involves a complex ink initialization made up of multiple key presses, followed by
2016 21:25 HP makes it difficult for you to use refilled ink or 3rd party cartridges. This error message is displayed when: 1) You installed a cartridge that has been refilled or made by non-HP manufacture. 2) When your cartridge printed too many pages (>300 https://support.bchtechnologies.com/hc/en-us/articles/200676949-HP-Printer-Error-Used-or-Counterfeit-Cartridge-Detected-Ink-Sensor-Warning-What-to-do- for color and >800 for black). Legally, HP cannot stop you from printing because of a class-action lawsuit ($5 million lost and HP learned a lesson). Therefore, HP made some clever questions: Click No on this question: Version 1: If you have just installed the indicated cartridges and you believe they contain new, original HP ink, click Yes. Otherwise, click No. Version 2: Was this cartridge sold to you as new, genuine HP-branded cartridge that has not been previously used? If you read the hp printer question carefully, then you know that you should click "No". If you click "yes", then HP has the right to stop you from printing. The correct action is to click "No". Once you select "No", then HP will display another message, and warns you about void of warranty. In fact, using 3rd party or refilled cartridge won't affect your warranty, unless HP can prove that the malfunction was due to the refill (click here for details). As in their own words, one or more "HP's printer warranty does not cover repairs or services due to use of non-HP cartridge or ink". You can click "OK" to dismiss this message and back to your printing HP will display one message per cartridge, then you can print forever (with the chip usage information turned off). Does this mean i have disabled the printhead permanently ? I tried everything. hard reset, changing the registry files, reinstaling drivers. Is the printhead dead or is it just me ? :P Permalink manish kk December 27, 2014 04:52 I also tried unchecking enable bidirectional monitoring from the printer settings. The doc spools but wont start printing. even the copy function is not working..scan works fine..just bought the printer 2 days ago..help :'( Permalink Support April 22, 2015 15:40 No, it doesn't lock your printhead. It locks down the cartridge serial number. You can use another set of cartridges to "unlock" it. I keep my Setup cartridges as the "good set" just for situation like this. Permalink Support April 22, 2015 15:40 The "good" set much have ink in them to unlock it. Permalink Tammy Corkum May 13, 2015 2
