All other indicators are normal except that the 'copy count' indicator show 'E' (indicating no cartridges are loaded at all). I've tried several different ink carts to no avail. None of the suggested troubleshooting techniques in the user ref manual do any good. I could troubleshoot this myself if I had a service manual or knew exactly what logic triggers this symptom and which board controls that logic. Any pointers? Respond to this 1 There is no service manual available. If you have cleaned the cartridge and carriage electrical contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol, and are absolutely sure that the cartridges you've tried are good, do what HP calls a partial reset. "Disconnect and then reconnect the power cord. When the lights begin to flash, press and hold the On/Resume and Paper Size buttons. When only the On/Resume light is flashing, release the buttons. When the On/Resume light is steady, the reset is complete." Tip: The only certain way to verify operation of the cartridges is to test them in known working printer. The check printer cartridge light is blinking. Which indicates a problem with the color cartridge. I was reluctant to replace it since ive never printed much color, but did anyway. There is no change even with a new cartridge. This is annoying as hell.
