followed the "Help" section and discovered it is the Black cartridge that causes the error. I then proceed to open the "HP Tool Box" and notice the Black Ink Level is very low. Go out and buy a refill kit and refill the 57 cartridge according to the instruction. But now the problem still exists as before and I'm stucked. Any suggestion will be appreciated. aiuser, May 26, 2006 #1 Advertisements Andrew Rossmann Guest [This followup was posted to comp.periphs.printers and a copy was sent to the cited author.] In article <>, says... > My HP PSC 1210 powers up with "Check Printer Cartridge" light flashing. > I've followed the "Help" section and discovered it is the Black > cartridge that causes the error. The printer does not physically measure the ink level. Each cartridge has a unique ID code. When you put in a new cartrdige, it assumes it is 'full'. The printer then just subtracts the ink it's estimating the cartridge is spitting out to determine the level. I believe HP's still typically only remember 2 cartridge ID's per type (2 black, 2 color). If you rotate between 3 cartridges, it will forget the 3rd one and assume it is full. There are also methods that involve temporarily covering over some of the pads to make the ID change to give the same effect. -- If there is a no_junk in my address, please REMOVE it before replying!
