If you have cleaned the cartridge and carriage electrical contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol, and are absolutely sure that the cartridges you've tried are good, do what HP calls a partial reset. "Disconnect and then reconnect the power cord. When the lights begin to flash, press and hold the On/Resume and Paper Size buttons. http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/21842 When only the On/Resume light is flashing, release the buttons. When the On/Resume light is steady, the reset is complete." Tip: The only certain way to verify operation of the cartridges is to test them in known working printer. Lots of newer HP printers use the 56 and 57 cartridge set. by Bert on Aug 21, 2004 at 10:45pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I am having a similar problem. The check printer cartridge light is blinking. Which indicates a problem with the color cartridge. I was reluctant to replace it since ive never printed much color, but did anyway. There is no change even with a new cartridge. This is annoying as hell. Now upon installing the new ink cartridge- like I have done for the past 5 years nearly, I get the message "Cartridge error" and it says there is a problem with the black cartridge. The cartridge is no.56 HP genuine blank cartridge and for some reason when I put it in it just comes up with the error on trying to print and the 'Check Print Cartridge' light keeps flashing and the 'Number of copies' comes up with E (E for error) on the printer itself. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...name=c00094661 This link is to the exact problem I have. I have cleaned the cartridges and followed that guide, yet nothing works. I have contacted HP and all they say is to ring- which I will do, however I was wondering if anyone could help me first? If it is a dodgy cartridge then I have to buy a new one which is ridiculous, seeing as I've just purchased a brand new one- and I bet I wont be able to get a refund either seeing as I have no packaging!? And if I do buy a new one to fix the problem and that doesnt work I would have wasted a lot of money on ink. Any help would be great Morbz morby View Public Profile Find all posts by morby #2 September 2nd, 2008, 09:10 PM Murf Moderator Join Date: Oct 2001 O/S: Windows 10 Home Location: Newport News VA Age: 71 Posts: 16,683 Not familiar with that printer but if you followed everything in the link, then appears the cartridge is bad. Even though new could be bad. As explained in the link bad contacts can cause, but you cleaned them?? If you still have the old cartridge (even though low) have you tried putting it back in to see of the problem goes away?? Murf View Public Profile Visit Murf's homepage
