Any advice would be nice, thanks. by unknown on Oct 24, 2004 at 4:59pm Add comment Please sign in to comment I had the same problem with my scanner bulb hitting the right side of the printer and making jamming noises. I tried http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042820 the fix Bert suggested and now it works again. Yeah! I had a heck of a time getting the screws out though, even using a little polygon tool. I ended up using scissors and a little elbow grease. Thanks for the help! - Anonymous This is all about clean glass. You gotta get in there and make that glass clean. The little white stip under the edge of the glass (you can only see it with the top off) is what tells the scanner bar it is in http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/22650 home position. With that glass foggy and such the optical sensor doesn't register.Mine is working after cleaning the glass.jim o - Anonymous Sprig,Although I'm sure you've figured it out or have bought a new printer by now, here is how to fix your problem.Fix: Remove the scanner assembly and clean the underside of the glass.Cause: This error occurs when the glass becomes cloudy or dirty. There is a white "reset" strip beneath the glass on the underside of the scanner bed, which the scanner uses to find it's position. When the printer starts up, it searches for this strip, but if the white is blocked or screwed, it continues past it, inevidably running into the side of the printer over and over. I had this problem myself, and I am glad I could help! - unknown I had the same problem... but somehow, I was able to fix it with a little help from a black marker... (I'm posting this fix to see if it really is the solution or simply coincidental)If you notice, there is a strip marking the starting edge of the scanner glasstop... on the one I fixed, the shiny black strip was beginning to get hazy on some parts... giving it a broken line look... I tried to press on the strip to make it stick to the glass more firmly but age and use must have made it's toll on it... so out of desperation, I got a black marker and drew a straight line tracing the path of this shiny black st
I have not solved my problem yet. Ok, printer won't print anything, not even print test page. I have updated my driver and firmware, I have changed USB plug, I have http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/19201 reset to default, I've pretty much done everything and still all the lights on the front panel continue to blink. I have gone through the on-screen troubleshooting guide and that didn't help either. I have unplugged the printer and plugged it back in an hour later. Has anyone ever had this problem before. Any suggestions welcome! Thank You! Respond to this 1 My hp psc 2110 does not get through the initial self-test before ir shuts hp psc itself down. I press the on button, it reads "self-test" and then "initializing" briefly while the scanner light comes on for a second or two, then it reads "self-test" again and the light flashes briefly and then the printer shuts down. I called the HP help line and they claim they can lead me through a fix, but for a fee of course. Does any one have any suggestions? by big guy on Jul 19, 2005 at hp psc 2110 8:10pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 1 I'd like to help, but my problem was different.I could always copy and scan, just not print from either of my two computers. The print would remain in que and never got a blank page. No error messages anywhere.Another problem I have had more than once was a loud clicking after powering up, caused by the scanner bar jerking. The solution was cycling power and if that did not work then use the (LEFT arrow & cancel buttons) solution as describe above.Summarizing you situation: 1. Copier goes through the motions but prints a blank page. 2. Wordpad, word, excel all print a blank page. 3. Test print from diagnostics on computer works.Because you can print a test page. Therefore: 1. printer drivers should be OK. 2. connections between printer and computer are OK. 3. Printer is clean. 4. Ink cartriges are OK.If you have not already. Hold the LEFT Arrow & cancel buttons down before powering up and continue to hold them down for at least 10 seconds after printer is completely powered up.Recommendations:1. Check other message boards.2. Ebay has several used HP 2110 for under $50 including shipping, so you can use your same print cartridges.3. Buy New, any name brand. HP is still a good name for printer (just not the HP 2110 model).4. HP help des
