I was hoping you might be able to give me some printer/ink advice about my printer. I notice that on the site you have some great troubleshooting topics and instructions but I'm not sure how to deal with this... I have an HP PSC 2175 all-in-one that uses the 56 black ink cartridges. Currently I am unable to use my printer because it refuses to print the "cartridge aligment page"...it keeps telling me "Paper Mismatch". (The paper is fine...really...I don't know why it says that?) This has happened to me previously and I was able to fix it but I'm not sure how I did it. I think the actual REAL problem is how the printer is trying to read the ink cartridge. I don't know why it says paper mismatch when it's really about the ink cartridge but past experience tells me it's the ink cartridge. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with which cartridge I put in because I've tried multiple cartridges and I am still having this problem. The only thing I notice that is different is that there appears to be a little bit of ink on the computer part inside the printer that looks like it reads the ink cartridge. Can you please tell me the best way to clean it? I tried just using clean new q-tips with nothing on them but there's still a tiny bit of ink residue and I think that might be what is causing the problem. Is there anything that is safe to use to clean this part in a printer? I do not want to damage the part that reads the ink cartridges but that is the part that appears to need cleaning...please help! Any help or suggestions you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your time and help! Keri Respond to this 0 Keri: simply try cleaning the electrical contacts carefully and gently, with Distilled Water on Q-Tips or on a lint free rag. Its more likely that the electrical contacts on the ink cartridge, or inside the Print Cartridge Holder Assembly, may simply be dirty. Using damp Q-tips [not wet or dripping], gently and carefully wipe off the copper colored electrical plates on the cartridges and the electrical contacts inside the holder assy. Its best to use "Distilled Water", because it has less chemicals and minerals in it, than tap water and regular tap water can actually cause additional problems. Use new dry Q-Tips to dry off all the electrical contacts after cleaning...The only way to really eliminate a possible bad cartridge [even if it happens to be a new cartridge], is to actually replace it, or test it in another printer that uses the same cartridge and was working ok with its own cartridges installed. Unfortunatly
