A 'Clear Carriage Jam and Press OK to Continue' Error Message Displays for HP PSC 2400 and 2500 All-in-One Printer Series Issue The error message 'Clear Carriage Jam and Press OK to Continue' displays on the product control panel. The carriage assembly, which holds the cartridges, stalls. A paper jam might have occurred previously. The following symptoms might also accompa
to print. It feeds paper from the paper tray OK but feeds the paper too far past the print heads and then stops before displaying the error. It seems as though the printer can not detect that the paper has arrived under http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/51428 the print heads and assumes there is a jam when there isn't.What sensors the printer use to determine the position of the paper and is there anything I can do to fix this problem?Interestingly, someone posted the same problem on another web site http://www.fixya.com/support/t204537-hp_psc_2355_paper_jam . I've checked the door at the back and it appears to be in the correct position. Many ThanksBen-- Ben Francishttp://tola.me.uk Respond to this 0 The paper sensor is the combination of a lever and optical interrupter module. The rear hp psc cleanout door must be removed to see it. Viewed from the rear it is on the left recessed between the two small rubber rollers that are toward the top. The lever should move up and down freely. If you need a photo email me by clicking on the crossed tools to the right of my name. Ask for the optical sensor 1 photo. by Bert on Oct 20, 2007 at 1:47pm Add comment Please sign in to comment Hi BertI just read your hp psc 2355 answer to the paper jam error with HP PSC 2355.I'm not exactly sure that I have located the paper sensor. Can you please send me a picture of the sensor? Thanks !/ Johannes - Anonymous HiI think that is my problem what you are mentioning, if i understand correctly, you mean the roller to the left. is that supposed to move up and down. that seems to me as the logical idea of it because what the printer is doing is whilst prepairing its taking the paper and it tells me there is a paperjam. that roller is just still on the floor of the paper feed tray. any advise would be grateful!cheersoli - Anonymous 0 Hi Bert,Thank you very much for your prompt reply.I have found the lever and optical sensor combination. The lever can move up and down freely and if I manipulate it manually the printer seems to be able to tell the difference between up and down (i.e. if I try to print with an empty paper tray and hold the lever up at the right time it says "paper jam" as before and if I leave the lever down it says "out of paper"). This suggests the sensor is working correctly. If I remove the back panel and observe the lever when the printer is in a "paper jam" state the lever appears to be up, as it should be.Assuming the paper sensor is working correctly, is there anything else that could cause the
