HP 2410 Printer Error "Cycle Power" Started by jessepenn, July 31, 2005 3 posts in this topic jessepenn 10 New Geek Registered 10 2 posts Posted July 31, 2005 · Report post I have an HP psc 2410 All in One http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/hp-psc-2410xi-quot-Cycle-Power-quot/td-p/1761243 that started to show a "cycle Power" message on the screen. I have gone on HP Chat and they instructed me to do a "semi full reset". It did not help. In the end, they told me that there is a hardware failure and that I need to purchase a new printer. I'm not too sure they are right. Has anyone seen this before and does anyone know how to fix it? The printer is less than http://www.pctechbytes.com/forums/index.php?/topic/5991-hp-2410-printer-error-cycle-power/ two years old (out of warranty) but worked great until this error message so I'd like to fix it if possible. If so, update the driver for it which would require you to go to the manufacturer website and locate it there. Or uninstall it from the add/remove programs in the Control Panel and reinstall using the CD that has the drivers on it.
 jessepenn 10 New Geek Registered 10 2 posts Posted August 1, 2005 · Report post Tried the recommended fix. thought that it needed a thread of its own."Hi, my printer HP psc 2410 photosmart all in one had a paper jam, after I cleaned it - i.e. took the jamed paper out, it now tells me http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/30434 that there is a carriage jam. I tried to solve it, but don't know how. The cartridge simply does not move anymore. Reseting does not help. It feels like the carriage is stuck, I don't want to brake anything.Would very much appreciate some http://www.geek.com/review/mini-review-hp-psc-2410-photosmart-all-in-one-557488/ advise!!!Thanks!Barbara"I have almost exactly the same problem. My 2410 announced it had a carriage jam after printing a page when there was only one one page left in the feeder. Its only 15 months old so I'm not happy.I've e-mailed HP.Their advice can be found hp psc at:http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/ccsearch/getdoc?doc=c00309172After the fault occurred and following the instructions at the above URL, I was able to move the carriage by pulling either the top or the bottom of the toothed belt left/right rather than trying to move the carriage itself.Having moved it to the extreme right I (stupidly?) removed the ink cartridges. The carriage has now moved back to the extreme left and I cannot move it more than 1cm and, like Barbara I am concerned that I will break it if I try any harder. The printer just hp psc 2410 says insert cartridges.I've just received another e-amil from HP which says:"Perform a semi-full reset on your PSC 2410 by holding the button combination given below, while plugging in the power cord.Press and hold # and 6 on the front panel keypad, while plugging in the power cord."I don't hold out a lot of hope but I'll report back when I've tried it.After all of this wibble I have two questions:1. where can I find some instructions on taking the PSC2410 apart?2. does anyone have any experience of complaints to HP re equipment only just out of warranty?DonDon Respond to this 1 Hi BF,Are you Barbara or someone else?I took my printer apart again at the weekend and took lots of pics.I haven't bothered to find out how to upload pics to this site so if you want me to e-mail them direct, then let me know.Ok bear with me and no guarantees!!1) From the back of the printer, remove the access cover (no tools required).2) Remove the two Torx (all screws are T10/T10H) screws (one on left and one on the right).3) A bit of judicious wiggling will allow you to remove this panel.4) The panel is connected to the guts of the of the printer via a small two wire (I think) connector.5) Mark this so that you know which way around it goes when you come to plug it back in and then unplug itNow I think that the next step is optional and if possible should be avoided if you think you only hav

For ~US$300 (via Amazon), it's a relatively good deal. Top of the HP 2410 InstallationI installed the device on an Apple PowerBook 17″ with a gig of RAM. The installation instructions were well done and easy to follow, as HP's typically are. Installation took roughly 10-15 minutes, from unpacking to test print. The Mac has several fewer steps than the PC side of the installation poster, but it's equally straightforward. In addition to the typical drivers, HP installs its "HP Director (All-In-One)" application. This is your computer's entry-point into the device. As someone who primarily uses a Mac (and no, I'm not going to get into the whole Mac vs. PC holy war) I have had my expectations set over the years that big companies (like HP) would not support Mac-specific options.
