something more. The display message states "Remove and check color cartridge." The printer will report correctly if cartridges are removed. I have cleaned the contacts on both cartridges and the carrier. One time, the message went away on the color cartridge after installing a new (78) one. Only to switch to the black cartridge. Then nothing resolved it until a new black (15) was installed. But then the message reverted back to the new color cartridge. When unit is turned on, the message will be displayed and the "COPY" button will flash red. Press it and https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/PSC-950-Check-Black-Cartridge-Error-Message/td-p/315430 the message will go away until an operation is attempted then it returns. The AC power Adapter LED is steady bright green with 19.2 volts output at no load. I can see and hear the scanner section going through the power on sequence and otherwise unit appears to be normal. I think the cartridges are the same as the 900 series printers but I do not have anything available to http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/25291 test the cartridges with. I am concerned though that the printer itself maybe damaging the ink cartridges in some way. Thank you for any thoughts or considerations. Respond to this 0 The only sure way to eliminate the cartridges is to test them. All of these printers use the 15. partsurfer.hp.com Most, if not all, of the printers that use the 45 will also accept the 15. partsurfer.hp.com All of these printers use the 78. partsurfer.hp.com by Bert on Dec 2, 2004 at 7:30pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Well, I found the problem I think. A large cap (C15 - 330uf/35v) is broken off the backside of the print head carraige. It appears to be surface mount technology but this large part was not epoxied to the board. So the small solder joints were both the electrical and mechanical bonding. I found it rolling around in the bottom of the printer. So far the print carraige assm or interface board does not seem to be available. Thank you for your time. by unknown on Dec 3, 2004 at 10:49am Add comment Please sign in to comment Did you get the remove and check color cartridge problem fixed. Now my HP 5110 that uses a 78 col
this.it can be hours preparing the scanner to scan or send a fax. Respond to this 4 On the display window it says "align print cartridges and I have did that about 25 times and I ran out of http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/11419 ink and had to replace them. I have turned it off and have done everything that I http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/18675-3-error-message-incorrect-black-printer-cartridge can think of to correct the problem, but nothing seems to work. I have a similar one but though I can't photocopy, I CAN print from the computer. Any ideas, please?! - unknown Please tell me if you resolved problem with please align hp psc cartrige alignment message on window. I've tried shutting down, new cartrige, nothing is working. I've pressed enter like it tells you, press enter to align cartrige, and still nothing. Help. - Anonymous 0 Same here. Mine is a 2002 PSC 950 and has only one failure, which only recently begun happening. Mine says "Warming up" almost every time I try to scan, whether or not I am faxing, scanning or copying. It also does it when I am importing from Photoshop or other applications. I hp psc 950 tried downloading drivers or patches, but are completely up to date. Any help would be great. by unknown on Sep 1, 2003 at 5:05pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 A HP tech tip says to turn it off, wait 8 seconds, and turn it back on.But as I told the other post:I have limited experience with your particular model but from general experience I would speculate that you have a defective scanner. There is a replacement part available (P/N C7296-60002) but don't check the price unless you want to risk going into shock. by Bert on Sep 2, 2003 at 11:05am Add comment Please sign in to comment Bert,Bella_Donna says that you sent her a link with advice for this problem with the 950, and it worked for her. Sounds like a proven winner, worth spreading the word. Would you kindly post that web address here? I'm dealing with the same problem.--John Hupp - jd_hupp 0 Had same problem. However we noticed that we had turned it off and when we returned room was cold. And when we turned it on we got the message. We finally decided (who knows why) to heat the whole room up to 78 deg. and restarted; light went out and it has been working so far. We are far from being experts and I know this sounds to good to be true, but it is working for us. Hope this helps someone else. by unknown on Nov 10, 2003 at 10:44pm

I have had an HP1210v PSC for about 2 years now. I recently got some flashing lights for the check print cartridge error light. The diagnostics in the HP director states that "the black printer cartridge is the wrong kind". I have had the same cartridge in there since installation, and I don't think this is an "out of ink" problem. I emailed HP, and they had several suggestions (none of which worked, duh, like cleaning the contacts and resetting the printer and whatnot). They have a patch which is supposed to fix this, but when executed it gives the error message "did not find an eleigible printer to update". Hp states this patch always works, which, obviously, it doesn't. They now say it must be a hardware problem, but if a patch exists, I'm guessing it must be a software prob of some sort. I haven't tried replacing the cartridge (20$), because I'm still guessing its a software problem. Any ideas???
