What Is Inf File
#1 Thornton windows 7 Professional 615 posts Orlando Florida ATi display drivers Error "the inf was not found" the error reads exactly as in the title, this may seem like a double thread to someone driver fusion who has seen another thread i was recently receiving help on, however it is not, this is a separate issue. my procedure 1.uninstall drivers from device manager 2.use ati installer to uninstall further 3.reboot 4.delete all ATI/AMD files from C: and prog fils / prog x86 5.drivercleaner.net 3.4.5 (ran updater first) 6.reboot 7.update vga drivers 8. reinstalled VCC 12.1 (last stable version on my machine) bout 30% through the overall percent progress bar, i driver sweeper get a popup that reads "Error: the inf file was not found" despite my best efforts to give it the best case senario. another fix for this someone gave is, to after this process, un install using the ati installer again and re install again and it should work... nope... people have said it may be a bloatware thing, but the problem is in the driver, not catalyst. im running out of options. the drivers still seem to be functioning despite this, however, i worry it may be the updated vga and ati drivers from within device manager. despite the drivers KIND OF still working, id feel more confident if i did not receive this error on installation My System Specs Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS windows 7 Professional CPU Intel I7 4790k Motherboard ASUS Hero VII Memory 16gb DDR3 1600mhz Graphics Card Dual GTX 780 ASUS Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP 2331 Screen Resolution 1080p Keyboard Razer Deathstalker Mouse Razer Ouroboros PSU Corsair 800g Case NZXT Phantom Cooling fan Hard Drives 750gb Hitachi 7200rpm 500gb Crucial SSD Internet Speed 70mbps Antivirus MSE + M-Bam Browser Chrome Thornton View Public Profile Find More Posts by Thornton . 18 Mar 2012 #2 Kaktussoft Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bits 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1 10,812 posts SecretCity

First my system specs: Powercolor Radeon 9800 http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/11730/ SE AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Asus A7N8X motherboard WindowsXP os It tends to freeze a lot while playing games (like many here are having the same problems!). To get to the point, I thought that updating the driver may help solve this problem. After downloading the driver from this url http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-w2k-catalyst-7-91-030625a-010027c-efg.exe and attempting to install (after deleting display drivers provided on my cd with my card) i get this error when trying to install INF Error. Video Driver Not Found What can I do about this? I searched the ATi website http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/3659.html which basicly said POWERED BY ATI products are manufactured using ATI components but by another manufacturer. These products are distinguished by the POWERED BY ATI logo on the product packaging. ATI software installers on ATI Installation CDs, as well as those posted on the ATI website for "BUILT BY ATI" products are NOT meant to work with POWERED BY ATI products. but the link i used to download the driver was from the powercolor website (http://www.power-color.com/drivers.htm) Anyone had the same problems? He can't recall doing anything. So it goes. I think "whatever", downloaded the latest Catalyst drivers, and try to install it, only to get the message "INF Error, Video Driver Not Found" and then "Try to set up your adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup". I tried googling inf error no for info (apparently it's a common-ish issue), but I never found anything that worked. I tried uninstalling anything ATI and then installing, to no avail. I tried uninstalling the error-listed VGA adapter from the Device Manager and then running install which didn't work. Rebooting after that also didn't work (it popped up with "New hardware found" after the reboot, but it couldn't find the proper drivers). After an unedifying series of adventures I got to http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=45&kind=1 which has several drivers for my mobo. I first downloaded (obviously) the VGA driver, and tried to run setup. Unfortunately, after preparing the install, an Error message pops up saying "The system cannot detect the device, please confirm that the device is configured properly and restart the setup program." I then tried downloading the AGP upgrade, installed it, but nothing changed. I also downloaded the BIOS update, since it mentioned a VGA upgrade, but I'm uncomfortable with upgrading the BIOS if it's possible that that's not the main issue. I've tried using add/remove programs to remove any ATI from my computer, I've tried using older drivers, I've tried reinstalling Windows XP on a different Hard Drive. Nothing seems to work! If this could be solved ASAP, that would be lovely, as
