(Motherboard) Intel Pentium III 1 GHz Coppermine (CPU) Radeon 9600SE (Graphics Card) - Not sure of the "mark" of this one..PowerColor or ASUS Background Story Well, about 3 months ago, I exchanged my old and outdated GeForce 2 GTS Graphics Card with the new and better (I thought) Radeon. Being the CS-gamer I was back then, I did this in hope of increasing my FPS-count (not a lot, just a little), but was fairly disappointed when I experienced an all-time record low FPS of 5-10 (no matter what was going on).. Also, being lazy, I decided to take this as a chance to lay off the CS-scene for some time, perhaps focusing on some other aspects of gaming and general usage of the computer.. It was just now, today, that I got the craving for fragging again… After doing some reading, I realized that I was not the only one with problems regarding Counter-Strike 1.6, ATI and FPS. After some more reading, I decided to downgrade to Catalyst 3.6. Since I'm not the most experienced person when it comes to

weak for current titles. I was also having driver update issues with the 210 which made we switch to Radeon, hoping that the drivers will be a breeze to install and update. I was wrong. http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/radeon-9600se-inf-error-video-driver-not-found.15072/ My new card drivers will not install on my system. I get "INF file was not found" half way through then "Install failure" at the end. With the nVidia card I would just get "Install Failure". Now before I switched the cards I downloaded the most current driver for the 6670 and tried to uninstall nVidia drivers. In my Program List the driver (273.5X I think?) is still listed. I http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/351297-33-catalyst-driver-error clicked uninstall, nothing happens. I removed all nVidia folders after attempting to uninstall the listed driver about ten times. I powered down my system, and switched the cards, booted up, and ran the installer for the new Radeon driver. I got INF not found, and then Install failure. I don't know what I'm doing wrong? I'm debating to just do a clean install of the OS (I only have games so I won't loose much I can't replace except time.) Any suggestions? Also, trying to boot into "safe mode" if I press and hold "F8" the whole time during boot I get sent to a different options list that requires me to hit my reset button to get out of. Tags: Device Manager Graphics Cards AMD Windows 7 Catalyst Last response: 18 December 2014 16:33 in Windows 7 Share IHazABone 18 November 2013 02:00:17 As I've found, these http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/76448/ are extremely common problems. AMD Catalyst Control Center only shows four options, none of which having anything to do with the GPU. Just the CPU options, of which there is one. I believe the cause inf file of this to be Windows not recognizing the GPU, as in Device Manager, it calls it "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and the monitor is simply "Generic PnP Display". I have tried reinstalling drivers, manually wiping them, deleting registries, using Catalyst 13.2 through to 13.11 Beta, and even reinstalled Windows. I reseated the GPU, secured connections, performed a CMOS reset, updated the BIOS, and a few other things. It is causing radeon inf error the display to not work correctly and it's extremely bothersome. I have no idea what to do anymore. I have a big problem. Yesterday I reinstalled an ASUS notebook of a friend of mine. It was in a serious condition, it was slow, full of viruses, etc... I formatted it, installed the xp, sp3, and checked the device manager. There was a VGA card, which doesn't have a driver. I searched for the type of the notebook, and i found out that the video card is an ATI RADEON Mobility 7500. I downloaded the vga driver from the ASUS tech database, but it said: "INF error video driver not found". Then I tried to install some Ati drivers (e.g.:Ati Catalyst 3.2), but they said that INF problem, and this: "Setup was unable to complete installation. Try to setup your dusplay adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup". Currently I have absolutely no idea what to do. I am going to ask my friend if she has any original driver CD, or anything, but I'm not sure if she has anything... Can someone give me any advice what can I do, or can anybody say anything about this standard VGA driver? Thanks for your answers.
