Unfortunately, upon installation, shortly after it displays ink cartridge "Charging..." it switches to "Black Ink cartridge error -> Cartridge replacement is necessary. Press the OK button to begin." No amount of retrying the cartridge and power cycling will fix this error. I called Epson support and they're sending me a new cartridge, but I don't have high hopes.I also tried cleaning around where the cartridge seats and the ink ink cartridge error flows (I think the print heads are not integral to the cartridges, they live in the printer?) using alcohol, but then learned here that this may be a bad idea for my model.Interestingly, since this cleaning, the old cartridge now reads "Replace Black ink cartridge", but I swear before I cleaned it was reading "Black Ink cartridge error" like the new one. I honestly don't know for sure, though.What's extremely annoying is that I can't run the cleaning procedure, because nothing I do will allow me to get past the error message, to get to the setup menu and run cleaning. #@$\% Epson!Any ideas?What's really burning me about this is that now I've wasted ~$50 on new color carts, ~$15 on the black, and I may need to toss this entire printer in the dumpster and buy another one.
