It seems to occur when two DLLs have the same dependency. To fix this, I go to the Application Files and right click on one of the two DLLs, click on "Dependencies from scan at build...", and unchecked the dependency listed there. For example, I got these lines in my log: Adding file 'MTKBDW~1.OCX' that is a dependency of component 'AxInterop.KbdWedgeOCX.dll' ... Adding file 'MTKBDW~1.OCX' that is a dependency of component 'Interop.KbdWedgeOCX.dll' ISDEV : fatal error -6109: Internal build error I went to the Application Files, right clicked on AxInterop.KbdWedgeOCX.dll, selected "Dependencies from scan at build...", and unchecked the single dependency listed there. I am using VS2012 to build c# app and trying build an .exe using installshield 2013 installed also. Each time i attempt to do so i get an ISEXP internal build error. It is worth noting that i am restricted with my environment as i am unable to access the internet, so i have had to manually get the prerequisite's put on my machine is there a way of getting the VS to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28818284/installshield-internal-build-error point at these now that they are stored locally and don't have to be downloaded? Could this be causing the internal error? Many Thanks c# visual-studio-2012 installshield share|improve this question asked Mar 2 '15 at 19:48 DeveloperRB 62 "have already spent far too long on what i feel should be a straight forward task" - I can relate - that sums up my experience with InstallShield as well, unfortunately. –Jeff May 28 '15 at 12:33 InstallShield is the absolute pits of installers. It's 2016, and InstallShield hasn't caught up from the 90's. It's just a miracle they're still in business. –JL. Are you using InstallShield Express? If so. Then make that a double myriad of faults. :) Some of the things you should make sure you have done: Defined correctly all icons at each step (yes, it is that sensitive) Defined correctly all the prerequisites (*.prq files) and make sure that they exist Make sure your projects are building. Make sure that the targets are correct. share|improve this answer answered Mar 2 '15 at 20:02 Ian Chu Te 564316 It is as i feared there could be numerous things wrong when, I will have to step throu

machines. Yes, some of them -- this is what made it so frustrating. The error we'd see, using the standalone build is:ISDEV : fatal error -6199: Internal build errorNot a very informative error, and not much in terms of diagnostic information out there on the web or in Flexera's KB.I was finally able to track down the cause: character encoding. The .ism is (typically?) supposed to use a UTF-8 encoding, but there are some caveats. If you are editing the .ism directly (e.g. Notepad), your editor /may/ be encoding it in a format that the IS standalone compiler doesn't understand, an you end up w/ a -6199. Adding to the frustration is that it may compile w/ some standalone builds, including the IDE, but will fail on others for reasons unknown.Regardless, the simplest solution is to open the offending script in the ide and then force a save. Alternatively, you can edit the file with a binary editor and remove the leading "" from the line 1. Posted by Bret at 5:36 PM 4 comments: Anonymous said...
