Else, it looks like '123' does exist, and you may have hundreds of pages of duplicated content across your site. That won't look good to Google. –Markus Feb 7 '12 at 18:19 @Markus: Surely you don't mean "sending a 404 and a re-direct". That would be impossible. A redirect would imply a 301 or 302. Maybe you meant "sending a 404 and a link"? –Asaph Feb 7 '12 at 18:32 1 @Asaph you're right - I meant to say print out the file he's redirecting too :) –Markus Feb 7 '12 at 18:37 | show 1 more comment 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Is your error page less than 512 bytes? Some versions of Internet Explorer show the stock "friendly" error page if the size is less than 512 bytes. Additionally, there is a setting within Internet Explorer options that turns the "friendly" error pages on and off. share|improve this answer edited Feb 7 '12 at 18:33 answered Feb 7 '12 at 18:17 Asaph 94.2k16137163 It is mo

I just finished developing my first laravel site, and now I'm just doing final tweaking to get it ready for production. The issue i'm running into is that my custom error pages I have created in my resources/views/errors/ (ie 404.blade.php) aren't working. Whenever I hit a route that doesn't exist I get the default "Whoops, looks like something went wrong." Is there something I need to do to enable my custom pages? I read up about editing my app/Exceptions/Handler.php , but it seems that laravel 5.0 made this a whole bunch simpler. Thanks! jlrdw — 6 months ago See if this helps https://laracasts.com/discuss/channels/general-discussion/how-do-i-create-a-custom-404-error-page See if this helps https://laracasts.com/discuss/channels/general-discussion/how-do-i-create-a-custom-404-error-page Cancel Update Your Reply shakee93 — 2 months ago on your app/exceptions/handler.php just extend this method renderHttpException ie add this method to handler.php it manages the HttpExceptions ` /** * Render the given HttpException. * * @param \Symfony\Component\HttpKernel\Exception\HttpException $e * @return \Symfony\Component\HttpFoundation\Response */ protected function renderHttpException(HttpException $e) { // to get status code ie 404, 503, 500 $status = $e->getStatusCode(); if (view()->exists("errors.{$status}")) { return response()->view("errors.{$status}", ['exception' => $e], $status, $e->getHeaders()); } else { return $this->convertExceptionToResponse($e); } } ` Hope that helps someone. on your `app/exceptions/handler.php` just extend this method `renderHttpException` ie add this method to `handler.php` it manages the HttpExceptions ` /** * Render the given HttpException. * * @param \Symfony\Component\HttpKernel\Exception\HttpException $e * @return \Symfony\Component\HttpFoundation\Response */ protected function renderHttpException(HttpException $e) { // to get status code ie 404, 503, 500 $status = $e->getStatusCode(); if (view()->exists("errors.{$status}")) { return response()->view("errors.{$status}", ['exception' => $e], $status, $e->getHeaders()); } else { return $this->convertExceptionToResponse($e); } } ` Hope that helps someone.
