Also tried IETester, Utilu IE Collection, Triple Booting a trial edition of windows. All the forums, eventually terminate at "Format disk, reinstall windows" solutions or have no reply. Reinstalling windows is not a viable option! I'm using Windows 7 Professional x64 Service Pack 1 (Dual booted). Windows update fails with: "WindowsUpdate_80092004" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" :According to "get internet explorer 9 help with this error". However, if you look at the event logs, it says: 0x80070643 :which is confusing, as it is not the same error. Why, windows, why? There is a microsoft fix it you can download which cleans up after failed updates (why is this not done automatically by windows update??) and after running it, restarting in safe mode with networking, and installing it directly from a standalone installer, ie9 "installs", but if you run it and click on "help > about" it says its IE8, and then at some point after the computer gets BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) and when it restarts, poof! Its IE8 again. So, how does one install ie9? internet-explorer-9 windows-7-x64 bsod windows-update share|improve this question asked Sep 21 '12 at 14:13 xxjjnn 4,521113556 FYI Apple's Safari installed easily on Win7 and runs fine 0_0 –xxjjnn Sep 21 '12 at 14:14 Try running windows updates and install all updates except for IE9 first. Then reboot. Then try installing IE9 again –DmitryK Sep 21 '12 at 14:24 Windows updates all already done, except for Bing Desktop (optional). Rebooting has been done after each fixing attempt I made. –xxjjnn Sep 24 '12 at 11:16 A colleague recommended osxdaily.com/2011/09/04/… as another workaround –xxjjnn Jan 15 '13 at 19:01 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up v
By Martin Brinkmann on March 15, 2011 in Internet Explorer - Last Update:March 15, 2011 29Microsoft has released the final version of Internet Explorer 9 yesterday, and most interested users won't have any problems installing the web browser, or updating their previous Internet Explorer version. Some users on the other hand may receive error messages such as Internet Explorer did not finish installing when they run the Internet Explorer 9 setup file. The core reason for this error message is that a beta, preview build or release candidate build of Internet Explorer 9 is installed on the system, which prevents the installation of the final version.Internet Explorer Did Not Finish Installing Setup can' continue because a more recent version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer. The error message does not appear if Internet Explorer 8 or IE7 are installed on the system. In this case, an upgrade is possible without problems. Users who receive the error message should look under Uninstall a Program in the control Panel to see if an earlier build of Internet Explorer is listed there. You need to make sure to look both in the third party software listing and in Installed Updates. On my test system, Internet Explorer preview builds were installed under the third party listing while the release candidate was installed under Installed Updates.A restart of Windows is required before the uninstallation of Internet Explorer completes. Check out How To Uninstall Windows Internet Explorer 9 for additional uninstallation information and troubleshooting. Some users may still run into troubles, especially if the uninstallation could not complete successfully. This was the case on a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit test system which displayed error messages when the uninstallation continued after a system restart. The very same error message (did not finish installing) appeared again wh
