You may get an error that says "Page cannot be displayed". There are a couple of things that commonly cause this. The first is https://forums.iis.net/t/next/1205561 that FTP access or port 21 is blocked on your firewall. If that is not the case, try these steps. In Internet Explorer, select the options gear in internet explorer the upper-right corner of the window, then choose "Internet Options". Select the "Advanced" tab. Under the "Browsing" section check the "Enable FTP folder view (outside of Internet Explorer)" box. Select "OK". Close and restart Internet Explorer. You should now be able to view FTP sites in Internet Explorer without a problem. Anonymous Read access is enabled. It's a pretty simple site with another user that has read/write access. It can be accessed using an FTP client, and it can be browsed with Chrome. We've tried IE on numerous computers, Windows 7, 8, and Server 2008. We simply get the message "This page can’t be displayed". It's hard to feel as though the settings are wrong, if it can be accessed by FTP clients and other web browsers. Why would it change all by itself? Was there an update that might have caused this? I'm not considering this an IE problem, because I can browse the site at ftp://ftp.microsoft.comjust fine. It's very bizzare.
