So for those poor souls still using older versions of IE, here's a quick list of steps you can take to try and fix the underlying problem. The cause of this error can be any number of things, so you may have to try http://www.online-tech-tips.com/internet-explorer-tips/how-to-fix-internet-explorer-has-encountered-a-problem-and-needs-to-close/ a few different methods before the problem is fixed. If you click on the link to see the data the error report contains, you may see something like this: Error sign AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer. 7.0.5730.11 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 61eb77e0 So what can you do if you get this error? Try each one of the following steps and see if the problem goes away. Method 1 Open IE, go to Tools, Internet Options or click on the Settings gear icon at the top right and then clear out the temporary Internet files. Under Browsing History, click the Delete button and then check Temporary Internet files and website files. In case you downloaded an executable file that is causing the problem, this will remove it. Method 2 In some versions of IE, script debugging can be the cause for this issue. You can try disabling script debugging by going to Internet Options again, clicking on the Advanced tab and then checking the Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer) and Disable Script Debugging (Other) boxes. Method 3 Run anti-spyware and anti-virus software on the c

I'm on Windows 7 at work https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1199361 and, unfortunately, can't use a superior browser. Doing a little bit of research on some forum threads indicates that you need to either disable hardware accelerated rendering in Internet Explorer 9, or disable stereoscopic 3D in the NVidia drivers. I'm guessing that in your instance, it's definitely something to do with hardware acceleration. You can quickly disable here to test: robotsneedhugs2 2013-04-12 12:55:16 UTC #4 Disabling hardware rendering did it. 3D was already disabled. Thank you. Is there a way to mark this as solved? Or is that unnecessary? geek 2013-04-12 13:00:18 UTC #5 Glad we could help Basically we've been just editing the titles to say solved, as there's not a built in feature for that. Bacchus_Plateau 2013-05-14 20:41:04 UTC #6 Thanks so much!!! The disabling hardware rendering fixed me, too. This was SUPER annoying and like the OP said, I am tied to IE because of internal applications. This includes Internet Explorer or other browsers, instant messengers, Skype, etc. These programs may be running in the background, not as visible windows, but need to be closed anyway. To close such programs use the Windows Task Manager. To start Task Manager, take any of the following actions:Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager.Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.Right-click an empty area of the taskbar, and then click Task Manager.Once the Task Manager is running, select the Processes tab. On older Windows version you may need to click on the Process Name or Image Name header to sort the process names. Now right-click on every process that the Flash Player installer needs to close (e.g. iexplore.exe), then select End Process. It would be desirable if the Flash Player installer could perform that action by itself; I have therefore created an enhancement request.
