I ran CCleaner before I reformatted and let it fix all the problems found in the registry. (Now I am regretting that I done this because I didn't know what I was doing). I done a backup of what it fixed but when I reformatted the computer after, I didn't save it on my memory stick. Now I am still having problems getting on the computer. Everytime that I open IE I get an error message that it needs to
and open some websites but when i try to download a file or some other web site like youtube it starts http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/ie-8-mshtml-dll-error.3988313/ giving "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. if you are in a middle of .................. " the error leads to: Error Signature: AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 8.0.6001.18702 ModName: mshtml.dll ModVer: 8.0.6001.18702 Offset: 0029d1b2 Whats wrong and how can i resolve this? Farhan Farhan, Mar 26, 2010 #1 Advertisements PA Bear [MS MVP] Guest [Crosspost to IE General] Why hasn't WinXP SP3 been installed by internet explorer now? [Extended Support for WinXP (x86) SP2 ends on 13 July 2010. After that date, computers running WinXP (x86) SP2 will NOT be offered any further critical security updates, Automatic Updates will not work, and Windows Update website will not be accessible until SP3 is installed.] What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall internet explorer 8 (if any)? Were any of these applications running in the background when you installed IE8? Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 Farhan wrote: > I have upgraded IE 8 from IE 6 on XP PRO SP2.
