Here is the error message I'm getting: Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)' Automation error Unspecified error the line of code is specifically when instantiating an InternetExporer object, except I have done nothing to change the code. It just stopped working. What could be the issue? This has happened before and I corrected it by explicitly calling the library (MSHTML for a HTMLBsaeObject before), except I'm using just an Object when naming the variables Public Sub ValueLineResearch() setUp Dim myFund As String loginN = Sheets("Logins").Range("B2").Text pwStr = Sheets("Logins").Range("B3").Text 'Get the site iEx.Navigate "https://jump.valueline.com/login.aspx" iEx.Visible = True Call waitForIE 'Need to login now don't we iEx.Document.forms("aspnetForm").Item("ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder_LoginControl_txtUserID").Value = loginN iEx.Document.forms("aspnetForm").Item("ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder_LoginControl_txtUserPw").Value = pwStr iEx.Document.forms("aspnetForm").Item("ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder_LoginControl_btnLogin").Click Call waitForIE Application.Wait DateAdd("

The problem seems to be caused by Internet Explorer security settings - when switching between security zones, the current instance of IE is killed and a new instance is created, so your reference to the old process is no longer valid. Some of the suggested solutions were: Change IE security settings. Uncheck "enable protected mode" on the Security tab of Internet Options. Navigate to the IP address directly instead of the URL. This is the one that fixed it for

It is declared at the top of my Module modGeneral using VB: Public ie As shdocvw.internetexplorer Sub SomeSub() Set ie = createobject("internetexplorer.application") and for some reason when my program passes control to a sub in another module(modViewShipment), it seems to lose it. Does anybody know what might be causing this? PS if need be I can post more of my code. I wasn't sure what was relevant and what was not. Many thanks to anyone that reads this, and many more thanks to the one that solves it. --Doug Excel Video Tutorials / Excel Dashboards Reports Reply With Quote September 21st, 2005 #2 norie View Profile View Forum Posts Super Moderator Join Date 14th July 2004 Posts 10,582 Re: Unspecified Automation
