To investigate Iunlinked all the IE policies from the OUand rebuilt the PCs and wiped the user accounts' roaming profiles(local already wiped with the format of the HDD for the rebuild) but still get the same error even with no IE policies applied. I have looked through RSOP and there are no settings applied either under the maintenance section or under Admin Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer. Please can someone fill me on how to stop this error from showing? Use GPP Written by Ingmar Verheij on October 7th, 2013. Posted in Other Recently I had to configure some basic settings in Internet Explorer 10 on our lab environment. After some unfruitful attempts, where settings were not applied, I found out that the client side extension for Internet Explorer Maintenance policies where removed. Internet Explorer Maintenance Extension If you try to apply Internet Explorer Branding using the Internet Explorer Maintenance Extension the following error is visible in the Resultant Set of Policy (RSoP): Internet Explorer https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/b8960966-8a41-4f59-8a30-fee96559aaf7/win-7-ie10-internet-explorer-branding-failed-due-to-the-error-listed-below-the-specified-procedure?forum=ieitprocurrentver Branding failed due to the error listed below. The specified procedure could not be found. Group Policy Preference Starting with Internet Explorer 10 internet settings in group policy objects (GPO’s) are configured via group policy preferences (GPP) as described in Appendix B: Replacements for Internet Explorer Maintenance. With this information I figured to be http://www.ingmarverheij.com/internet-explorer-10-group-policies-not-applied-use-gpp/ done in 5 minutes but still I had some trouble configuring the settings. Why? Well, since our lab domain controllers run on Windows Server 2008R2 (they need to be updated – Jeroen, *hint*) they have no clue what Internet Explorer 10 (or 9) is. Fortunately I was able to run the Group Policy Management Editor from a Windows Server 2012 machine (Windows 8 with RSAT will do as well), here you can configure settings for Internet Explorer 10 (or 9). . I have an install of win 8.1. IE 11 is frequently going into a weird status, and will then not download pictures, or allow file downloads, and doesn't display most web pages correctly. Not sure if it is attempting to go into a high security mode, but some pages will give a "javascript needs enabled" error. I have found that if I go into IE settings - advanced and do a basic reset, IE will then work normally for a while, until something happens I have "protected Mode" enabled through group policy, would this be causing this behavior? and how would I best get this corrected.
