After several hours of fooling around with MS suggestions and the attempts of others, I found that the box, "Use a proxy server for your LAN" had been checked (tools>internet options>(connections)>(LAN settings). Unchecking that box solved my problems. View all 13 comments Report MaPaul- Apr 3, 2010 07:02AM Thanks, Dude You the man........ Report Thomas- Apr 3, 2010 08:58PM that fixed my problem, thanks! On /by I ran into this issue recently where upgrading a SSL Cert on a Outlook Web Access (OWA) web server can cause a "Internent Explorer cannot display the Webpage" error after successfully upgrading the certificate. After checking https://www.egroup-us.com/2009/04/internent-explorer-cannot-display-the-webpage-received-after-upgrading-ssl-cert-on-owa-server/ the usual stuff… Default Website and Exchange sub folder in IIS is "SSL Only/Requires http://www.getnetgoing.com/Internet-Explorer-cannot-display-the-webpage.html Encryption" The directory security settings are set to allow anonymous access. We are not using Forms Authentication in Exchange Admin. The SSL cert shows up and appears to be applied correctly. After all of these were tested I turned off SSL and made sure I could browse to the site using http: instead of https:. All looked good. Other than internet explorer when switching back to Https: we would still get the error above. I found a solution in the MSFT knowledge base that can fix one cause of this issue. The cause is that the SSL certificate is not associated with a private key or that private key needs to be "repaired". This can happen for a few reasons. One, the base certificate was removed instead of upgraded. Two, there was a corruption that caused the internet explorer cannot private key not to be associated. To determine if this is your issue. Open IIS. Right Click your OWA site Select Properties Select the DirectorySecurity Tab View the certificate. If the certificate does not say it is associated with a private key then this is most likely your issue. To remedy this follow these steps or this KB for more details… http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc759048.aspx (Install certificate after deleting the peding certificate request). This works for our situation as well. When viewing the certificate in IIS. Go to the certificate details and copy down the Serial Number (omitting the spaces). Open up the Command Prompt. Type certutil -repairstore my "serialnumberhereinsidequotes" Press Enter. View the cert in IIS again. You should see that it is now associated with a private key. Browse to your https:// OWA site and you should be all set. Good Luck! This Internet Explorer error message occurs when IE can't reach the web server using HTTP. This may be because IE cannot: Convert the name into a numeric address, using the Domain Name System (DNS) Connect to the server using the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) Both causes may in turn be caused by lost Internet connectivity. Instructions below show how to determine the cause, i.e. to test whether: Internet connectivity has been lost. The website is temporarily unavailable. The Domain Name System (DNS) server is not reachable. The Domain Name System (DNS) server does not have a listing for the website's domain. There might be a typing error in the address. The SSL and TLS protocols are enabled Symptoms In this case, there is a typing error (“ww.”) in the domain name (“address”). How to test which issue is why “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” Under “More information”, Internet Explorer will list a variety of issues that may have caused your problem. The instructions below show you how to test which of those issues might be causing the problem. You can readily recreate this error by trying to access the address “http://localhost/”. In that case, Internet Explorer is trying to access a web server on your own computer (localhost) which likely isn't running a web server. So in this instance, this error arises because the server doesn't respond, as described below. 1. Internet connectivity has been lost. There should be other clear signs of this, e.g. if you can't get a search engine results page when you do a new search (e.g. search for random words). Be wary that caching may cause static content (e.g. this web page) to continue to appear even when Internet connectivity has been lost. Unfortunately, there are a multitude of possible reasons why Internet connectivity has been lost. You should first check whether only specific types of connectivity have been lost (e.g. check whether “The Domain Name System (DNS) server is not reachable” as described below), and if all connectivity has been lost, then check foundation network functionality.
