I did both suggested workarounds: On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. On the Security tab, select the zone the site loads under. Scroll down to the Scripting section, and set the Active Scripting to Disabled - prevents scripts or to Prompt - prompts user to run or not to run scripts. Click OK. and On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. On the Security tab, select the Restricted Sites zone. Click Sites, click Add, internet explorer cannot and then click OK. User is running IE7 on Windows XP. So any suggestions? This problem no longer occurs in Internet Explorer 8 Source: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927917 share|improve this answer answered Oct 26 '12 at 16:37 Ivan Kay 714 User doesn't really want to because she is fearful that Microsoft would track her internet usage... I tried reasoning with her... But thank you nonetheless! –George Oct 26 '12 at 16:40 @George Okay, I edited the post with a workaround that should help. EDIT: whoops, never mind, the workaround I have added on (now removed) states that it works for only IE6. –Ivan Kay Oct 26 '12 at 16:49 Track internet usage? Then why use any version of IE at all, and not Firefox/Chrome/Opera etc.? –Karan Oct 26 '12 at 19:09 @Karan That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. Oh well. Some people just can't be convinced, evidently. –Ivan Kay Oct 26 '12 at 19:24 Maybe @George can tell her something to the tune of "with Win8/IE10 being released, IE7 is no longer supported due to security issues", and she needs to

If possible, delay running your script until onload. share|improve this answer answered Jan 22 '09 at 11:07 Greg 199k35307303 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote This is a known bug in IE 6. There may be various reasons for IE to abort operation. Possible reasons could be: 3rd Party plugins installed in your browser (Disable it by going to IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > Enable 3rd party browser extension ) You are modifying the DOM node even before it is created. Try modifying the DOM Node after window.onDOMReady Event. As the bug says, you may be using the SmartNav feature in aspx pages. To put it another way , writing to the body element from grandchild nodes throws this error. No Error
