I have installed a Belkin Wifi adaptor to allow Windows Updates.... Problem 1: If I open Internet Explorer and click onthe tool bar, I get error messages saying "Internet Explorer encountered a validation error". The process is iexplorer.exe and it occurs on modules comctl.dll and mshtml.dll. Problem 2: (Which may be related to problem 1) ... if I goto Windows Update, the site immediately responds with a message saying Windows is upto date. However, the response is so quick, no scanning is liley to be taking place...and it is very unusual for a newly installed instance of windows not to need any updates. So I think Windows is not upto date at all. I have checked WiFi on Device Manager and the driver seems to be installed with no error messages or warnings. Windows 7: Internet Explorer has encountered a validation error Page 1 of 2 1 2 > 08 May 2009 #1 adricha Windows 7 internet explorer RC 10 posts Internet Explorer has encountered a validation error I have just installed Win 7 RC onto my Fujitsu Lifebook and am receiving the above error repeatedly when trying to use Internet Explorer (also get similar error for Windows Explorer). When the error appears it lists the "process name" (iexplore.exe or explorer.exe), "Module name" (eg mshtml.dll - this internet explorer encountered varies) and "assert offset" (eg 004DEB6E - also varies) along with 3 buttons "Ignore Once", "Ignore Always" and "Do not ignore". If I select "do not ignore" the windows error reporting process kicks in but does not find a solution and will ocassionally restart IE or kick me out completely. Selecting "Ignore Once" will often lead to a number of similar popups with either different module or assert offsets. I have gone through device manager to ensure all my drivers are properly updated and have also tried to reinstall to no avail. Not sure if it is connected but Windows Update does not appear to find any updates either even if I try and install Office 2007 and look for updates to that (I know it should find SP2 at least). Any help much appreciated as this is driving me nuts.
