Are you able to open PDF files on other browsers? 2. Is this a new problem? When did it start? One thing you can try is to configure the browser to use Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application. To do this, follow these steps: A. Close your web browser. B. Start Acrobat or Adobe Reader. C. Choose Edit > Preferences. D. Select Internet in the list on the left. E. Uncheck "Display PDF in Browser", and click OK. F. Restart Internet explorer. Here's what Adobe has to say about this problem. Have a read through it and see if any of these solutions help - http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/32

I then installed Adobe Design Premium CS4, including Adobe Acrobat Pro. I use IE8 and Firefox 3.6.FYI, this problem does not occur internet explorer in Windows Vista or lower...only Windows 7.The problem is that when I click on links to PDF documents that open in a browser window, a blank error message box will sometimes popup and nothing else happens (see blank error box below). But other times when I click on the same PDF, it will open just fine. I tried opening it four times in a row, and it worked 3/4 times. Then, I did it four times again, and internet explorer 11 it only worked 1/4 that time. Totally random. So I tried clearing the browser cache - no luck.Tried reinstalling Adobe Reader 9.3 - no luck.Tried uninstalling Adobe.com and Adobe AIR - no luck.Tried both IE8 and Firefox - both randomly showed the blank error box.The PDF documents are being rendered through PHP, so I also tried changing the PHP header(), but the same blank error box kept randomly showing up.What in the world is going on here? Re: Open PDF in browser causes blank error box (Windows 7) PeterDubya Feb 1, 2010 6:29 PM (in response to JohnDubya) Hi,I have the same issue except that I find it when I try to open a PDF in IE8 with Win 7 with Reader 9.3. Once I close down IE8 I receive a message box: "Message from the Webpage Server Error: Class: WDJ_Acroform Method: Error Message: Could not send message!: The form I am trying to use is an interactive one for submitting returns and works on Win XP.This is apparently a fix for this but I can't figure it out (This is from https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1304874&tstart=-1):"Check an indicator "Display PDF in browser" on Adobe Reader application. You can find the indicator as below. Open Adobe Reader -> select the menu "Edit" -> sele
when clicking on them in Internet Explorer: This turned out to be a setting in Adobe Reader preferences (Edit –> Preferences) under Internet category. We just simply untagged the “Allow fast web view” and the PDF loaded up in the browser without the error: This seemed to work OK on the affected client but after reading into this a bit further on the web I noticed that it did not work of all the clients but there was another method that seemed to work as well: After un-tagging the option for “Display PDF in browser” and clicking on OK the PDF loaded up without any errors but it would launch Adobe Reader and display the PDF file in there rather than in the browser. About the Author: paulw 2 Comments Drew November 30, 1999 at 1:00 am We are seeing the same thing and get the same results with checking "Display PDF in browser". However, there are sites that will not open Adobe Reader and we get a red X in the browser. This was not a problem with XP and IE9, but is being seen in Win7 with IE9. Still looking for a solution. I actually do have 2 questions for you if you tend not to mind. Could it be simply me or do some of the remarks look like they are written by brain dead visitors? 😛 And, if you are writing at other online sites, I would like to keep up with you.
