It tells me if the problem persists to reboot, but that does not help. I am running Windows ME. I have no clue what to do to fix this problem. Thanks in advance for any help! crzyncgal, Jun 15, 2004 #1 Sponsor Miz Joined: Jul 1, 2002 Messages: 2,146 Check out the MS KB article, Error Message: "Explorer Has Caused an Error in Shdocvw.dll. Explorer Will Now Close" Miz, Jun 15, 2004 #2 crzyncgal Thread Starter Joined: Jun 15, 2004 Messages: 13 I found that same article, but I don't understand what it means. As far as I know, I am not using compressed folders. crzyncgal, Jun 15, 2004 #3 smeegle Joined: Jan 18, 2004 Messages: 3,527 That makes two of us. I went to a different site for the same error message and it suggested that Explorer had caused an invalid page fault. The solution was to extract a new copy of the Urlmon.dll file from Microsoft Internet Explorer CD. Since my Microsoft Internet Explorer came with my computer I still don't know how to fix it. smeegle, Jun 15, 2004 #4 Alfie_UK Joined: Mar 28, 2003 Messages: 1,182 This link Here explains how to extract Urlmon.dll file.if you haven't got Microsoft Internet Explorer CD don't worry, you can extract it from your windows CD. The only CD's that I got with my system, Windows ME, says that if I use them that I will lose all of the additional downloads that are not in Windows System restorer. smeegle, Jun 16, 2004 #6 Alfie_UK Jo

More Info: Coding is being done in Excel VBA. It works if I use a valid URL in place of the filepath. As soon as that html file loads in the browser window all objects and properties associated with the InternetExplorer object are rendered useless by the "Access is Denied" error. One workaround I thought of would be to generate the .html code through a text stream. That would allow me to get my form fields manipulated however, I still need to submit the html form via ShDocVW.dll which....you guessed it....results in the access denied error. Please let me know if you know of anyway to get around this error, or know of any registry entries or security settings that might allow me access to manipulate a local html file through excel vba. Google for "mark of the web" - maybe that will help you here. Eg: markoftheweb.com –Tim Williams Feb 10 '12 at 7:23 The mark of the web allowed the javascripts to run but that wasn't my main problem. Good tip though, thanks for that. However, I still have the "Access is denied" error. –Dennis Williams Feb 10 '12 at 13:34 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote This works for me Option Explicit Sub Sample() Dim IE As Object, ieDoc As Object Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") IE.Visible = True IE.Navigate ("C:\Users\m0180kb\desktop\test.html") Do While IE.ReadyState <> 4: DoEvents: Loop Set ieDoc = IE.Document ieDoc.getElementById("testField").Value = "Testing" 'IE.qu
