Object doesn't support this property or method 2. Call was rejected by callee. My Intention: To call window.opener.myObject method that is going to retrieve some data using ajax and pass in callback function that live as nested function in popup window that initiated call that is going to handle response data and modify popup window html accordingly. Here is a scenario: I pull up popup window that handles some specific operation. This popup window calling window.opener.myObject method that using ajax call. I'm passing in popup window function that is going to handle response and it works with ff and safari but not with ie. Here is code sample //RELEVANT SCRIPT ON POPUP WINDOW $('#myButton').live('click', function() { var h = window.opener.myObject, p = { 'p1': 1 }; var responseHandler = function(responseObj) { //in IE we never got here if (!responseObj) { alert('Unexpected error!! No response from server'); return false; } //..handle response }; p.p1 = $('#control').val(); h.executeMethod(p, responseHandler); }); //RELEVANT SCRIPT ON WINDOW OPENER MYOBJECT try { $.ajax({ type: 'POST', async: true, url: url, data: postData, dataType: "json", contentType: 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=utf-8', success: r, // r here is reference to my responseHandler popup window function error: handleError }); } catch (ex) { alert(ex.message); } Any tips? javascript internet-explorer-6 jquery share|improve this question asked Mar 29 '10 at 1:09 krul 1,01711635 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted I have made it work, not sure if that is the
For no apparent reason, I started to encounter a problem with new pop up windows using IE6 sp1. Sites that I visited with javascript pop up windows did not work; frequently I would get a "The callee (server [not server application]) is not available and disappeared; all connections are invalid. The call did not execute.". Quickly after I noticed if I right clicked on any link and selected "Open in New Window" it didnt work also. I searched google and other sites for info on this. I read a lot of suggestions, such as disable BHOs, check if browser was hijacked, check if a popup stopper is installed (never had one), reinstall and repair IE http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2535297/passing-callback-function-accross-windows-causing-error-with-ie (easier said then done), check registry settings, reinstall scripting engine, update IE, check hosts file, restore internet defaults or privacy settings, and I can go on what was suggested. But I will tell you what worked for me and few other ppl. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679 For some odd reason, you may have to re-register some of the DLLs with regsvr32. regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll did the trick for me (it was the last one on the list). I hope this helps out someone http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/open-in-new-window-problem-or-callee-javascript-error-in-ie.716557/ because I was about to give up and try to repair or restore the OS which was one of the suggestions also.
