IE first gave me a 404 error. Evidently, certificate error in you cannot control root certifying authorities in IE like you can in Opera and Firefox? This expired cert for the wrong site is from GoDaddy. I always set GoDaddy (and all Comodo related) as Untrusted and my other browsers then warn me that a site is using a cert from GoDaddy (orComodo authorities) and ask me what to do. I did this with IE8 and the result was that I got a 404 error which has NOTHING to do with UNtrusting a root certfying authority. So, I trusted GoDaddy certs. Then I did the test again. This time IE refused to go to the site which was the correct thing to do but it did not give me a 404 error. Instead, it complained that the cert was expired and for the wrong site. Ok. that is what it should do. However, IE gave me only two alternatives: don't go to the site or override and go there. Where is the CORRECT alternative which is to let me examine the cert and then decide what to do? · actions · 2010-Jul-30 7:28 am · Damon85Premium Memberjoin:2004-12-25Cincinnati, OH Damo
