Solved WMI problem Posted on 2003-11-18 Windows XP 1 Verified Solution 49 Comments 98,101 Views Last Modified: 2011-08-18 I got a problem that I have researched quite a bit on the http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/computer-does-not-recognize-itself/9b2085a6-ff00-48a9-b51f-5e5b42c266cb web and found many others with the same problem but no fix has been found. When I open System Information it says "Can't Collect Information Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation software. Windows Management files may be moved or missing." and I believe this issues also has to do with the following after running the network diagnostic which could be why my network doesn't work, peer to https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/20802031/WMI-problem.html peer one XP machine one Win2000 machine. Is there any error internet explorer web message? Ask Your Own Computer Question Customer: replied6 years ago. No, on msconfig system config utility, Services, most status reports are "stopped".will not load programs, will not configure internet connections, When I ran Dell diagnostics, Report shows: Internet Explorer Web Proxy: WMI error ; Failed, also same report for: Computer system, operating system, version, modems, Network Adapters and Network Clients.PC will not load hardwares.Only thing I did which may have caused it: I switched msconfig utility from "selective Startup" to "Normal" startup. Also, McAfee automatically installed a new version of their McAfee "total protection" the day before. and in Windows Task Manager; I may have ended one process by mistake on the Processes tab, but don't remember which one it was. SP2 on my machine. I'm unable to connect to the Internet. Internet Explorer will time out. I ran the Network Diagnostic Troubleshooter and under Internet Explorer Web Proxy "unable to connect to wmi namespace 'netdiagnostics'" I have my IP set to automatic since I'm on highspeed Internet and I get my IP, DCHP, DNS, Subnet Mask addresses. Guest, Mar 27, 2006 #1 Advertisements Guest Guest I solved this problem. I downloaded Service Pack 2 from a 3rd party website and installed it. This solved all my networking/Internet connection issues "punisher" wrote: > I just installed Win XP SP2 on my machine. I'm unable to connect to the > Internet. > Internet Explorer will time out. Let me get this straight. You installed Windows XP with SP2 (SP2 integrated on the installation CD?) and had problems, then downloaded SP2 from a 3rd party location and reapplied it and things now work? Why would you get SP2 from anywhere other than MS? Was your original XP with SP2 not legitimate? Getting MS updates from other than MS is asking for problems. -- Rock MS MVP Windows - Shell/User Rock, Mar 27, 2006 #3 Advertisements Show Ignored Content Want to reply to this thread or ask your own question?
