The .dll or dynamic link library files are the vitalmost files those stores set of commands to handle various jobs and thus help OS to perform its duty seamlessly. This file mshtml.dll handles the browser operation. So missing of this file means that part of operation is stalled, thus the IE8 is crashing. Do download or insert the Installer cd of the OS to reinstall the specified file and your trouble will be over. Thank you.
