There are lots of other people that do that anyway, so Microsoft stays well-informed of their problems without you and I volunteering our time to help them out. Good news! You don't have to do that any longer. internet explorer Here's how to disable it: 1. Click Start 2. Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties 3. Click the “Advanced” tab 4. Click the “Error Reporting” button 5. Check “Disable error reporting”, but also check “But notify me when critical errors occur” Click OK twice, and don’t be bothered by that error message any more! This week's video is a short clip from a news show. The anchor is interviewing an animal my computer keeps specialist and he is answering some questions that were emailed in to the show. Sounds a bit boring. Oh, did I mention that the animal guy brought a hyperactive chimpanzee with him? You can get my computer tips by email, or by RSS. (what is RSS?)

Here's an unrelated question: Is there a way to configure the start up menu so that fewer processes are constantly running in the background? I mean are they all necessary? Surely they slow down the computer? Marianne beth pulsipher June 23rd, 2008 thanks for telling me how to disable the error report - so glad to not have to mess with than anymore. Danny B June 24th, 2008 Scott, Would it be possible for you to flag your tips with information on whether they apply to Windows XP, Vista, W2K, Win9x, just some of these versions, or all versions of Windows? For the past couple days, it has been crashing either in the middle of a task or just out of the blue. When it crashes, 50% of the time it will restart back to normal and then perhaps crash again after about 10 minutes or so. The other 50% it will stay in the bios/memory screen (the first screen that comes up when you start the computer) and it will freeze. There is no warning and no error report. I don't nkow what it could be. I have just installed a webcam and mobile phone software but it had been playing up before then. Please help. Thanks Ron Nov 14, 2007 #1 Rik Banned Posts: 3,814 Google and get memtest and run it for atleast 7 passed, any errors at all and it means you have bad ram that needs to be replaced. Nov 14, 2007 #2 mamaindia TS Rookie Topic Starter thanks Rik, unfortunately i haven't been able to get through a whole memtest without the computer crashing. Every so often the internal speaker will make a beep sound, which it have never done before. This is very infrequent but definitely not normal. I ran 2 memtests simultaneously for about an hour (got through about 130% on one and about 75% on the other) then the computer automatically restarted. On startup a window appears asking whether i'd like to install a picture gallery of some sort ?? Recently installed Skype. Wondering if maybe this has something to do with it ?? Cheers.
