This can happen when one device goes to sleep, and the

router releases that IP address for use again by another device. Then the original computer (or mobile device) attempts to grab the same IP address. The error message will appear. The problem can also happen if any of the devices on your network have fixed IP addresses. If the device with a fixed IP address wakes up or is turned on, and two computers same ip address requests it's internally defined fixed IP number, but that number is in use by another device, the error will appear. The best solution is to turn the device off and then back on (restart). In most cases, this will cause the automatic process of requesting and being assigned the next available IP address (DHCP) to fix the problem. For a server or other device that has a fixed IP address, you may need to turn those devices on first. Let them get their fixed IP addresses assigned. Then turn on other devices. Been since July 1st Reply resourcesforlife says: September 29, 2015 at 11:06 am I'd suggest having someone come out and take a look at it. You can check your local area for computer support people. The only other possibility is that some device has a fixed IP address in a low number range where the others are getting issued out randomly. That could cause the conflict. This occurs when two computers on the same LAN network end up with the http://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/ip-address-already-in-use/ same IP address. When this occurs, both computers end up not being able to connect to http://pcunleashed.com/what-is-an-ip-address-conflict-and-what-do-you-do-about-it/ network resources or perform other network operations. Please reconfigure a different IP address. This problem, though rare, ip address can occur because of the following reasons: Two computers are assigned the same static IP addresses One computer is assigned a static IP address that falls into the DHCP range for the local network and the same address is assigned to a computer by the DHCP server A laptop is put into sleep mode and then turned on while connected to another network that has already assigned the same IP address to another computer If you have multiple network adapters, it is possible for the same ip address computer to have an IP address conflict with itself If you have connected multiple wireless routers to your network and DHCP is enabled on more than one device How to Resolve an IP Address Conflict There are a few ways you can go about fixing this problem. I’ll start with the simplest and move on. Firstly, go ahead and restart your computer. Yes, that usually will fix the problem automatically! If not, then keep reading below. Renew IP Address You can release and renew the IP address for your computer using the command prompt. Click on Start and type in CMD. Sep 28 2015 If you have more than one device connected to your home network, you may, on occasion, come up against a problem called an IP address conflict. In Windows, you get a little notification. It goes Network error: Windows has detected an IP address conflict. Another computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer. When this happens, usually, you lose your connection to the network, or your connection becomes unstable. Why does this happen, and what can you do about it? The notification is spot on Every computer on a network must have a unique IP address. It's the only way that the router can keep track of where a request for a new webpage or network resource comes from, and where information arriving from the network or from the Internet, is to be delivered. Whether your computer is the only one on your network or one of several, IP addresses get assigned automatically by the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol server (DHCP server) built into the router. It has a bunch of IP addresses to choose from, and assigns them to various devices attempting to connect. Computers get different IP addresses each time they get online. Sometimes, the DHCP server can inadvertently give out the same IP address to two different devices. This can happen if one computer receives an IP address, uses it, and is then placed in sleep mode. Sensing that the IP address is no longer in use, the DHCP server could hand it to another device on the network. When the first device comes back online using the same IP addr
