It worked well and was pretty easy to deploy. Now, in IIS7/7.5 it doesn't want to work this same way. I am able to IP restrict the site but I can't get it https://forums.iis.net/t/prev/1183269 to show my custom 403.6 error page for a visitor who is IP restricted. Within custom errors, I have 403 and 403.6 setup to "Execute URL" and have /unauthorized.asp as the file to execute. That file contains the following code: <% Response.Write "This site is currently undergoing maintenance.
" Response.Write String(513, "_") Response.Write "
" Response.Write String(513, ".") %> The entry in the web log does indeed show the restricted visitor receiving a 403.6 error but the custom page is never displayed. Instead, I receive a message stating "The website declined to show this webpage . . . Most likely causes: This website requires you to log in." With no custom error page, I get the standard "403 - Forbidden: Access is denied" as you would expect. What am I doing wrong here? And is there a better way to accomplish the IP restriction? I don't have access to the firewall in front of this web server. For some reason, your IP address has been banned by that site. You've broken some rule, or done something wrong causing you to be blocked. The only way you are going to resolve it is to contact their support and find out why. Source(s): scott b · 8 years ago 0 Thumbs up 0 Thumbs down Comment Add

By default, the log files are created in the directories daily, and the log files are named by using the date. For example, a log file may be named as follows: exYYMMDD.log Common HTTP status codes and the causes The causes of some common HTTP status codes are as follows: · 200 - OK. IIS 7.0 successfully processed the request. · 304 - Not modified. The client browser requests a document that is already in the cache, and the document has not been modified since the document was cached. The client browser uses the cached copy of the document instead of downloading the document from the server. · 400 - Bad request. The Http.sys file blocks IIS 7.0 from processing the request because of a problem in the request. Typically, this HTTP status code means that the request contains characters or sequences that are not valid or that the request contradicts the security settings in the Http.sys file. · 401.1 - Logon failed. The logon attempt is unsuccessful probably because of a user name or a password that is not valid.
