DNS (DOMAIN NAME SYSTEM) which is a system that lets humans navigate the internet in an understandable way instead of using/reading a bunch of numbers. When you use a URL ADDRESS yout type in words, those words are ip address translated using a DNS resolver which converts words that humans understand, to numbers that computers understand. That allows you to surf the internet typing words THAT YOU REMEMBER into the URL ADDRESS BAR.Alright enough of that.I have been having an on-and-off problem with getting a DNS SERVER ERROR, labeled 807.... and so on when trying to sign in. I can get on the internet browser but just not sign in. It wasn't until after the latest update that ps3 ip address this problem grew. It seems that the last update has caused a problem between PSN and my ISP. The error began to happen more often. I did some research and my ISP(TIME WARNER, A CABLE MONOPOLY) is falling behind with updating their DNS SERVERS. WHAT A BUNCH OF DUMBA^^ES, THEY ARE ONE OF THE LARGEST INTERNET/CABLE/**bleep**/TELEPHONE PROVIDERS IN THE U.S. Well anways, To fix this temporarily I reseted my router and then reseted my PS3 NETWORK SETTINGS. After this failed in about a month I did my research to find out a FASTER AND MORE RELIABLE DNS!THE BEST WORDS TO USE TO GET A GAMER TO PAY ATTENTION=FASTER and MORE RELIABLE!!!As soon as I read this I jumped on it!The DNS provider is called OPENDNS.....it is a worldwide system that is completely awesome. You can either set up your whole home network through OpenDNS or you can just set up your PS3. I will tell you how to set up your PS3.First of all,... If you have no idea what your doing get used to the word 'AUTO', if have somewhat of an idea you will have the advantage to customize your network to optimal performance.I am using a Linksys Router but no matter what hardware you use they are all built around the same idea. For the normal people go to #1For the technical savvy people who want to also set up a

Ok, so I've read everything I could find about this, and I've even called Shaw to help, but I'm getting nowhere trying to set up port forwarding so I'm hoping someone can help. First, I'm using a Cisco dpc3825, connected wirelessly with a good strength signal. I had no problems getting online with a dynamic IP, but I got disconnected from other players or the game servers a lot, so I figured I'd assign a static IP and port forward and see if it helped. Quick summary of the settings I used: Static IP address assigned manually to the PS3: 192.168.0.130 - This is just outside the range of the Router's ending IP address range. This IP does show up in the client table when I log into the router as a static IP address. Subnet mask: Entry in PS3 setup exactly matches what is shown when I log into the router. Default router on PS3 matches the default gateway exactly. Primary and secondary DNS match the numbers from both my router and the DNS's I pulled through my computer. I port forwarded the standard list of ports for this game, setting the range for both external and internal to the same port number, and set each to UDP, TCP, or both (depending on the requirement). Here's the problem.. While the client list shows the static IP, when I run a connection test on my PS3, the static IP succeeds, but the connection fails. What the heck am I doing wrong? If anyone can explain what I'm doing wrong, I'd appreciate it, but please try and dumb it down for me a bit - I'm not that tech savvy..... nuclearbroccoli February 06, 2014 20:17 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google+ Answered Please sign in to leave a comment. 14 comments 0 btw, the directions I followed suggested using 192.168.1.127, but that didn't work either, so I replaced the .1 with .0 as it was closer to the numbers the router assigns devices. Have no idea whether this has anything to do with anything though.... nuclearbroccoli February 06, 2014 20:20 0 votes Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google+ Permalink 0 Have you tried the connection guide?
