Have a look at the below link which explains clearly which devices are eligible for upgrading and which are not, article also explains the usage of iFaith tool.http://bit.ly/fix-apple-itunes-error-3194 Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by MAC-BOX -PC,Solvedanswer MAC-BOX -PC Apr 25, 2014 6:27 AM in response to MAC-BOX -PC Level 1 (0 points) Apr 25, 2014 6:27 AM in response to MAC-BOX -PC I've Solved The problem By Just Completly Removin' ( Placin' it Some where Else "As administrator ") The "host" File ( On Windows ) , it worked Just fine Don't Edit it Just Do as Above Helpful (0) Reply options
on Feb 17, 2015 | Comments (7) If you're getting Error 3194 when you try to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch then here's how to resolve the error. This guide could also be useful to fix the http://www.iphonehacks.com/2015/02/how-to-fix-error-3194-itunes-restore-update-iphone-ipad.html following errors in addition to Error 3194: Error 17 Error 1639 Errors 3000-3020 Errors 3100-3999 This device isn't eligible for the requested build Check your hosts file The problem seems to occur because iTunes cannot communicate with Apple's update servers. You http://osxdaily.com/2010/12/06/error-3194-fix-for-itunes/ need to check your hosts file, and there is no entry for "gs.apple.com". Mac Quit iTunes Launch Terminal Enter the following command and press Enter/Return. sudo nano /private/etc/hosts Enter the password you use to sign in to your computer when prompted, and iphone 3gs press Enter/Return. Terminal will display the hosts file as seen below. If you see any entries for "gs.apple.com" then you need to either remove or comment the entry. Navigate to the "gs.apple.com" entry using the arrow keys, and add the # symbol and a space at the beginning of the "gs.apple.com" entry. Press Control-O to save the file. Press the Enter key when asked for the filename and Control-X to exit the editor. Restart your computer. Windows Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, iphone 3gs restore tap Search, type run, and then tap the Run icon. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Search, type run, and then click the Run icon. Type %WinDir%\System32\Drivers\Etc in the Open box, and then tap or click OK. It should open the Etc folder. Double click on the Hosts file to edit it. If you see any entries for "gs.apple.com" then remove it and save the Hosts file. That's it, now try to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch again, and you should ideally not get the Error 3194 error again. You hit the error because you may have used a jailbreaking tool like Redsn0w at some point of time, which added the entry to the Hosts file so that iTunes could connect to Cydia servers instead of Apple update servers. Temporarily Disable Firewall or Security Software If you don't have an entry in the host file for "gs.apple.com" and still getting Error 3194, then temporarily disable the firewall or anti-virus software on your computer, as it is quite possible that they're preventing iTunes from connecting to Apple servers. Check firmware file You may also get the "This device isn’t eligible for the requested build" error message if you're trying to update or downgrade your device with a firmware file that Apple has stopped signing. To give you an example: As of now iOS 8.1.3 is the latest iOS software update. Apple has stopped signing iOS 8.1.2 or lo
you can fix it by temporarily blocking Apple's firmware signing services. Error 3194 seems to usually be triggered when unsigned or expired firmware is used, often during an iOS downgrade or upgrade, or even during some restores. If you experience the error on your iOS device, here's how you can quickly resolve it so that iTunes will function with the restore or iOS update as intended. This applies to all versions of iTunes on both Mac and Windows PC, here's how to resole the error. Fix Error 3194 The fix is the same regardless of what operating system you are using: Quit iTunes Locate your hosts file, in Mac OS X this is /etc/hosts and in Windows this is c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts Open the hosts file with Administrator privileges Add the following lines to the very bottom of the hosts file and save the change: 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com Connect your iPhone to the computer Launch iTunes Put the iPhone/iPad/iPod into DFU mode by turning the phone off and then holding down the sleep and power button for 10 seconds, then release the power button but hold onto the home button until iTunes tells you that the device is now in recover mode Use the iTunes Restore feature as usual with the iOS device You may need to flush your DNS cache for the change to take effect, though usually just quitting and relaunching iTunes is sufficient to get the app to recognize the change. Once your iOS update is finished, go back to the hosts file and remove the "74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com" line again so that iTunes can properly update as usual. This is an essential step otherwise you may encounter future errors when trying to update or install iOS versions. Note that iTunes Error 3194 can also happen sometimes if the wrong firmware version is used, and you will see an error message like "This device isn't eligible for the requested build", which is why it's necessary to always use the appropriate firmware files f
