At a guess there is some sort of corruption on the hard drive that iTunes isn't clearing up. A low level format may well fix things for you. Or you can work through these suggestions...Check your iPod with Diagnostics ModeIt's possible that your iPod's hard drive has started to fail. Take your iPod and place your right thumb on the centre SELECT button and your left on the top MENU button. Press down both thumbs for about 6 seconds until your iPod reboots. Immediately move your left thumb around to the rewind button |<< on the left and hold this down together withSELECT for a further 6 seconds. Your iPod should now switch into Diagnostic Boot mode. Press MENU for Manual Test, then select IO > HardDrive > HDSMARTData to reveal your stats. When looking at my iPod it said it was full. I tried http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/32078/my-ipod-will-not-work-trying-disk-utility-but-now-stuck to restore it on iTunes and it said it was corrupt and I got error 1430. When I tried to take care of it with DiskUtility I may have worsened the problem. I attempted to erase it, because it would not let me select repair. That did not go through, but then it did let me try to repair it. I tried, but that would not go through either. I then looked at it in iTunes and it said it was empty. I tried DiskUtility one more time and it now is giving me this: What can I do now to get my iPod back? I don't care if I loose everything on my iPod. ipod restore share|improve this question edited Nov 23 '11 at 22:17 patrix♦ 34.9k1073104 asked Nov 23 '11 at 22:11 Jeff 1112 I didn't know that DiskUtil was even able to access an iPod... But here is my question... I recently tried connecting my ipod to itunes (8.1.1, latest version) & got an error. so i put it in disk mode & reconnected it and it said i had how to put to restore it. so i tried & once again (after asking for my password) it gave me Error 1430. I've tried to reformat using disk utility & current have it formatted in Mac OS Extended. I also went through the steps on apples website of what they say to do when you get that error. When not plugged in, it just shows the Apple logo on my iPod, nothing else. I've looked at everyyyyy answer through google and this forum among others...so if anyone can help that'd be great! I'm hoping it is not a bad hard drive. But it seems like this is a fairly common problem, but no solution has solved it yet. Thanks.
