When trying to start, we get 'windows could not start the SQL server (MSSQLSERVER) on local computer.

Verify that the path mentioned for the -e parameter exists. Also check if the SQL Service account has read/write-rights on this path. Start SQL Server Configuration manager. 2. On the right panel, right click on 'SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)' and click 'Properties'. 4. Click 'Advanced' tab. 5. Scroll down and copy the value stored in 'Startup Parameters' and paste it on textfile. It will be something like this : -dC:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\master.mdf;-eC:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log\ERRORLOG;-lC:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\mastlog.ldf 6. Browse the Log location "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log". 7. Right http://www.morgantechspace.com/2014/05/Event-17058-initerrlog-Could-not-open-error-log-file-SQL-Server.html click on the folder "Log" and click Properties and then to visit to "Security" tab. Now, check SQL Server service account permission on this folder and give proper access to this folder. 8.
