a problem with links to excel tables in word. Here is what I am doing: Open a blank Excel spreadsheet. Type a few dummy values (1,2,3).
Microsoft Word Starter 2010
Save the Excel file. Copy the values (1,2,3) in Excel. Open a blank Word document. Use the "Paste Special" button in the toolbar, and paste as "Paste link" in "HTML format". The link works fine. If I update values in my excel spreadsheet, the values change in real-time in the word document. (I've put microsoft word 2010 free download for windows 7 both my windows side by side, and can see the values beeing updated as I'm working in my excel spreadsheet). Now here is the problem: as soon as I close my Excel spreadsheet, and try to update my link in word, i get the following error message. "Objects in this document contain links to files that cannot be found. The linked information will not be updated". If I try to right click the linked table, and select "Linked Worksheet Object" and then "Edit Link" or "Open Link", I get the following error: "The program used to create this object is Excel. That program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding. To edit this object, install Excel or ensure that any dialog boxes in Excel are closed". Furthermore, If I save, close and reopen my Word document, Word notices links (asks me if I want to update all the links, to which I an

Microsoft Word 2010 How To Use
in the original I just keep getting "Error! Not a valid link" when I paste a microsoft word 2010 product key link. I've compared the field details on the good and bad links, and they're identical. I've tried pasting the good one in too -- doesn't microsoft word 2010 keygen work. I've also shut down the computer and restarted to see if ODBC needed to be reset. No good. Any ideas? Kamran, Nov 19, 2004 #1 Advertisements Kamran Guest Okay, here's something very interesting. The original links were in plain text. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/f5951bd0-8caf-4b6a-af65-d975f681e31e/links-between-word-and-excel-do-not-work-if-source-file-is-not-opened?forum=word The same link, when placed inside a table, gave me the error message. So, by experimentation I found that Paste Link with *Formatted Text* works inside the table, producing the same result. There was only a slight difference in the switches, but it made all the difference: { LINK....Documentation\\Worksheet.xls" "Audits!R4C9" \a \t } (won't work in table) { LINK....Documentation\\Worksheet.xls" "Audits!R4C9" \a \f 4 \r } (works!) Hope this helps someone. Kamran. Kamran, Nov 19, 2004 #2 Advertisements Beth Melton Guest IIRC this bug was corrected in the Office 2002 SP3. What version of Word are you using and what patches do you have installed? -- Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Not a valid link." after linking access/excel/word I admit that this problem is more than likely associated with Excel but it is quite advanced so hoped more people that might know the answer microsoft word might look here. Basically I have a vba macro that runs in excel and works it's way down a list of schools and updates a number of sheets using ms query (to an access database). It then produces graphs from this data, open's word and displays to a word template before unlinking and saving the file. It works fine, except that after a random number of runs (usually around 90-100), microsoft word 2010 the links in word just change to "Error! Not a valid link.". And every successive document produced just produces a document full of "Error! Not a valid link." where there should be links. I cannot explain this - has anyone else experienced such a problem? It really has got us stumped and would be an absolute life saver if we could get this to work so that we can just leave it running on a PC over the weekend - instead of only being able to run a few hundred at a time. Any help really is MASSIVELY appreciated - thanks for your interest. I have attached a trimmed down version of the code here (I've just taken some of the ms query links out as there are quite a few): Code: Sub RunAllSchools() Dim lMsgFilter As Long ''' Remove the message filter - this is to supress 'Excel waiting for OLE...' CoRegisterMessageFilter 0&, lMsgFilter Dim SchNo As String Dim ExamID As Integer Dim SubjID As Integer Dim YrFlag As Integer Dim c As Long c = Range("B6").Value Sheets("Run").Select Range("A" & c).Select ' Open Word (before loop) Dim wdApp As Word.Application Set wdApp = New Word.Application wdApp.DisplayAlerts = wdAlertsNone Dim strFileName As String Dim strPath As String strPath = "C:\VA20

(Yes, the spreadsheet name and cell values are the same in both 1205-May and 1204-April spreadsheets, which is why I was only changing the folder name). However, if I open the ActualPicture.xlsx spreadsheet in the 1204-April folder along with the main spreadsheet, I am able to successfully change “1205-May” to “1204-April”, which will then update the chart in the main spreadsheet. Question…is it possible, from the main spreadsheet to change the formula path to other folders without having to have those files open? Thanks! Stringham Jul 19, 2012 at 11:59 UTC You should be able to as long as you change it to the correct directory, I'm not sure why it wouldn't update. As far as your question goes, I would say yes. Just make sure you have everything exact to a T. If they are off at all, it won't work as I'm sure you are aware. Check to make sure that the folder names and files names match exactly. As far as things go, I can't remember where it is but you need to refresh the document after you do it but I can't remember how. Keep us updated. Thanks.
