Word / "Word has stopped working" when you open Word Problem When you open Microsoft Word, an error appears saying Word stopped http://www.fixkb.com/2011/09/word-has-stopped-working-when-you-open-word.html working and needs to close. Additional details may state "Problem Event Name: APPCRASH". Cause There are some printer drivers that seem to cause the problem, most commonly manufactured by HP. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/596659/microsoft-word-crashes-when-one-particular-document-is-scrolled/ It may also be due to a corrupt Word setting or install. Solution Try the following: Change the default printer to the XPS Writer: Click the Start button (Windows XP microsoft word users should then click Run). Type control printers and press Enter. Right click on "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" and click "Set as default printer". Reset Word Settings. Repair Microsoft Office. When I scroll this document, Word crashes. That is, a dialog box appears with the message "Microsoft Word has stopped working". Details of the problem are shown below. This document consists of multiple images captured from a word site using Microsoft Snipping Tool plus a little text. Is there any way to determine why this particular document crashes when all other Word documents work fine? Note: I scanned the laptop last night with Malwarebytes, SU
