[closed] up vote -3 down vote favorite I'm getting an error from MySQL which is about the most useless error message I've ever seen: ERROR 1064 (42000): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (userID, tweetID), FOREIGN KEY (userID) REFERENCES User(' at line 4 Great, check the manual... >__> Here's the SQL source; I'm sure it will be exceedingly simple to anyone familiar with SQL, but I'm a newb. To me it all looks fine. I'd really like to have a more well-formed question than "what's my error," but with an error message so vague, and me having so little experience, I'm pretty much lost. That's very bad since user has to guess what "SSL connection error" means. How to repeat: Connect via SSL https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=50076&contribs=1 to some mysql server with wrong cert (or any other ssl related failure) to get SSL connection error. Suggested fix: Make vio/rviosslfactories.c:report_errors() report error also when not in debug mode? Or better report proper error in form: "ERROR 2026 (HY000): SSL connection error: ERROR STRING FROM SSL LIBRARY" which would tell us what the real problem is. I have spent 5 hours today mysql error trying to get this mess working after upgrading from version 4. The Help files are useless as they are still for version 4 and there is no documentation apparently anywhere for getting this going. I am currently at the point where I THINK I have everything right. I click on “Start Service”, and I get this mysql error messages most useful error message (now I know why you only support Microsoft Databases you are following their lead on useless error messages): Not Connected to WhosOn
