You can use aptitude or apt-file to find which package you need: $ apt-file search libInventor.so inventor-dev: /usr/lib/libInventor.so libinventor0: /usr/lib/libInventor.so.0 libinventor0: /usr/lib/libInventor.so.0.0.0 $ apt-get install inventor-dev Should do the trick. Ditto with the rest of the libraries. Clearly installing your programme with apt-get would be ideal if there were a package for it under Ubuntu/Debian. share|improve this answer edited Aug 31 '11 at 12:16 answered Aug 31 '11 at 12:08 Sardathrion 365112 Thanks for answer, I forget tell that I have the Inventor library installed, but it is installed in /usr/include/Inventor, I think that I only need the soname libInventor.so, but I dont know how

(But until someone else comes along, I'll try to give you some help) I also don't know exactly what you have for a rescue CD. In any event... Boot from the CD. Go into rescue mode, if that's one of the options. (I also don't know how your drive is partitioned). To get some idea of how your drives are partitioned, you can try # blkid (and hope you have that program on the CD) # fdisk might help too but don't change anything. Mount every drive that can be mounted. Look for library files. One way to search is
