It's terribly dangerous if not used perfectly which is an enormous nuisance to do, though I've seen you're at least trying here. You escaped two out of three variables and introduced a gigantic injection hole, though. Close enough is not good enough on the public internet. At the very least you should be using PDO unless you have a very good reason because when using SQL placeholders these mistakes are usually non-existent. –tadman Dec 17 '12 at 6:54 Thanks for this comment, i appreciate it and i will look into this. I haven't seen anything on it but ill do my research! –sparkones Dec 17 '12 at 7:31 Thanks everyone for all the comments iConnectors More MySQL.com Downloads Developer Zone Section Menu: Documentation Home MySQL 5.7 Reference Manual Preface and Legal Notices General Information Installing and Upgrading MySQL Using MySQL as a Document Store http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/show-errors.html Tutorial MySQL Programs MySQL Server Administration Security Backup and Recovery Optimization Language http://www.mikusa.com/python-mysql-docs/exceptions.html Structure Globalization Data Types Functions and Operators SQL Statement Syntax Data Definition Statements ALTER DATABASE Syntax ALTER EVENT Syntax ALTER FUNCTION Syntax ALTER INSTANCE Syntax ALTER LOGFILE GROUP Syntax ALTER PROCEDURE Syntax ALTER SERVER Syntax ALTER TABLE Syntax ALTER TABLE Partition Operations ALTER TABLE Online Operations in MySQL Cluster mysql error ALTER TABLE and Generated Columns ALTER TABLE Examples ALTER TABLESPACE Syntax ALTER VIEW Syntax CREATE DATABASE Syntax CREATE EVENT Syntax CREATE FUNCTION Syntax CREATE INDEX Syntax CREATE LOGFILE GROUP Syntax CREATE PROCEDURE and CREATE FUNCTION Syntax CREATE SERVER Syntax CREATE TABLE Syntax CREATE TABLE ... is 'module.Error'. In MySQL it is 'MySQLdb.Error'. Every DB-API statement that you execute has the potential to raise an exception. So any time you execute a database query you should surround it with a try/exception block. This includes connections, cursor requests, and statement executions. # Get data from database try: cur.execute("SELECT * FROM song") rows = cur.fetchall() except MySQLdb.Error, e: try: print "MySQL Error [%d]: %s" % (e.args[0], e.args[1]) except IndexError: print "MySQL Error: %s" % str(e) # Print results in comma delimited format for row in rows: for col in row: print "%s," % col print "\n" <-- Home -->
