Someone has set up cpufreq on x64?I would ask for the result;cat /proc/cpuinfo && ls /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/ && lsmodI think that everything I'm doing well just ACPI on this laptop is not compatible. Is it possible? (MAXDATA PRO 800IW) (acpi -V well ok) sorry for my english. {Arch Linux, Debian} User Offline #4 2012-05-10 13:43:51 Mr.Elendig

AMSince i installed kernel 2.6.13-1.1532_FC4 i get FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq ... No such device at the boot process. I don't know if the next problem is related to it, but my Fedora Core 4 seems to crash a lot lately, i tried booting an older kernel, but i keep getting the same problem. I really would appreciate some help on these problems. mugs4th November 2005, 10:19 PMThis just started happening on my parents box. I was able to boot by choosing 2 kernels back. But, the message sill appears and it says dhcpd fails. For me, doing this worked: Go in as root: edit the file '/etc/cpu/cpuspeed.conf' Uncomment the DRIVER line, and set it to 'p4-clockmod' My celeron doesnt work with acpi-cpufreq, nor stepspeed or powernow. This seemed to be the only driver working on my Celeron for the new kernel. Never got the error since then. Christy16th November 2005, 02:35 AMgreenorange, Thanks for posting this, it's the first thing I've found that worked on my computer since I started trying to fix this error. Christy greenorange16th November 2005, 04:37 PMI actually disabled my cpuspeed even though I fixed it (the driver was bad; my box was making odd sounds and the daemon slowed my apps). This cpuspeed is a powermanagement tool; It makes the cpu run at different frequencies depending on workload, disabling it makes it work at maximum - ideal for laptops to save battery, but not for desktops. To disable, enter the Desktop - System Settings - Services, and uncheck cpuspeed. DO NOT STOP IT, or
