Is there a better solution? EDIT: exact code requested
EDIT2: The provided answers all go back to IE4/Win95 days. I mean, seriously?? Regardless, I disabled Smooth scrolling in IE8 (!!!) and also attempted to register the controls listed in the kb article mentioned by Shoban, but got an error attempting to register shdocvw.dll (The module "shdocvw.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "shdocvw.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again.) javascript internet-explorer-8 share|improve this question edited Jun 1 '09 at 17:32 asked Jun 1 '09 at 16:33 Chloraphil 1,38872740 1 Can you show the exact line that gives you this error? –Török Gábor Jun 1 '09 at 16:41 1 Works fine for me in IE8 (?) –Shoban Jun 1 '09 at 17:00 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote Well, I don't think there is a better solution. Searching for "No such interface supported" window.open gives me hundred thousands of results pointing to the same problem. They all say that the problem is a registry entry was corrupted, so the problem is locally and the same code would not affect other machines. share|improve this answer answered Jun 1 '09 at 17:06 Török Gábor 17.9k7infamous "error on page" message when attempting to access certain web sites using IE 32-bit on Windows 7 64-bit. A little digging revealed that the actual http://www.lnssoftware.ca/blog/?p=117 error was "No such interface supported" errors being thrown by the Java script window.open() method. Google reveals a number of suggestions for how to fix this problem, https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-no-such-interface-supported.919166/ most of which involve registering various DLLs using regsvr32. None of the suggested fixes worked for me though. Finally I found that using IE 64-bit got rid of no such the problem. Obviously there is a problem running IE 32-bit on 64-bit windows. Sheesh! Updated 11/10/2010 I finally got completely fed up with having to remember to run IE 64-bit for sites that used the window.open() method. A bit more Googling turned up a link to a script that re-registered all of the DLLs required to no such interface make IE 32-bit happy. The script can be found here: http://iefaq.info/index.php?action=artikel&cat=42&id=133&artlang=en There are number of files available for download. To fix this problem you want the one titled ie8-rereg.32on64.zip. Just close all open applications on your PC and run the .CMD file. To do that, extract the .CMD file from the ZIP archive, start CMD.EXE as administrator and execute the .CMD file. You can also get the file here. This is just a copy of the file downloaded from the link given above. I make no guarantees about the usefulness or safety of this file. Use at your own risk. I click on the exclamation mark and the the words "No such interface supported" Please help me resolve this problem. I've search the internet for a possible solution but the explanations were to register two DLL's using RegSvr32, of which I have very little knowledge of what to do or how to do it ( register .dll's, change a register, Cllean Boot) and am very cautious of damaging the Register(s). The following is a solution provided by "Microsoft Answers!!!" "Welcome to Microsoft Answers!!! The first thing you can try is Register two DLL's using RegSvr32: actxprxy.dll and shdocvw.dll. After you register those two DLL's, reboot your computer and try it again and see if the error occurs. If the above method did not fix the issue and as you have tried all the possible methods to resolve issue to no avail I would suggest you to try and Reset Internet Explorer and see if it can fix the issue. Access the link below for the same. Reset IE 8 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Reset-Internet-Explorer-8-settings You may also try doing a Clean boot and see if any third party application is conflicting with the performance of Internet Explorer. To perform a clean boot on a computer that is running Windows Vista, follow these steps. 1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue. 2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup. 3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box. 4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All. 5. Click OK. 6. When you are prompted, click Restart. 7. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved. If your issue is resolved, follow the How to Determine What is Causing the Problem section in the KB article to narrow down the exact source. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796 . Also, see the section on how return your computer to a Normal startup mode The above article is intended
