OpenSSL 0.9.8w was installed by sudo ./config --prefix=/usr/local/ no-asm sudo make install xmlsec 1.2.12 by sudo ./configure --with-openssl=/usr/local/ sudo make install And I got error message while trying to sign http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10685728/how-to-install-xmlsec-with-openssl-on-mac-os-x a xml func=xmlSecCryptoDLLibraryCreate:file=dl.c:line=146:obj=lt_dlopenext:subj=unknown:error=7:io function failed:filename=libxmlsec1-openssl func=xmlSecCryptoDLGetLibraryFunctions:file=dl.c:line=498:obj=unknown:subj=xmlSecCryptoDLLibraryCreate:error=1:xmlsec library function failed:crypto=openssl func=xmlSecCryptoDLLoadLibrary:file=dl.c:line=449:obj=unknown:subj=xmlSecCryptoDLGetLibraryFunctions:error=1:xmlsec library function failed: Error: unable to load xmlsec-openssl library. I hopes this helps. share|improve this answer edited Feb 11 '13 at 2:59 answered Nov 17 '12 at 21:56 fundidor 9711 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft di

An strace of xmlsec1 command line tool shows that it only tries to load /usr/lib64/libxmlsec1-openssl.so and without the symlink the load will always fail. Adding the symlink by hand enables the command line tool xmlsec1 to load the necessary libraries and work as expected.
