One of them are X11 library (libX11.a, libX11.so, or LibX11.dylib) and X11 header file (Xlib.h). I installed X11 library via "sudo apt install libX11 -dev" but I cannot find the way to install X11 header file (Xlib.h). xorg share|improve this question asked May 8 '15 at 6:47 deepblue_86 471213 add a comment| 1 Answer x11/extensions/xshm.h: no such file or directory 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted You can find packages containing a file using the web interface http://packages.ubuntu.com Here's the result for all packages containing Xlib.h: http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?searchon=contents&keywords=Xlib.h&mode=exactfilename&suite=trusty&arch=any share|improve this answer answered May 8 '15 at 6:50 Jan 4,97011228 I already installed libX11 -dev which contains Xlib.h but I cannot find where this file locates. –deepblue_86 May 8 '15 at 6:58 ok, I got it. 04:47 AMI'm trying to xlib.h download install something called morse2led. I believe that it x11/xlib.h' file not found xcode is possible on ubuntu, but seem to be having difficulty. Please forgive x11/intrinsic.h: no such file or directory my ignorance, but this is the error that I am getting. root@Conroe:/home/dan/Desktop/morse2led-1.0# make gcc -o blinker -O2 -Wall -L /usr/X11R6/lib/ -lX11 http://askubuntu.com/questions/620898/installing-x11-header-file -I /usr/X11R6/include/ -DLINUX blinker.c blinker.c:34:22: error: X11/Xlib.h: No such file or directory blinker.c:117: error: expected ‘=’, ‘,’, ‘;’, ‘asm’ or ‘__attribute__’ before ‘*’ token so I believe that a required header file Xlib.h is missing, I've looked about and can't find it https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1052605.html "locate Xlib.h" nothing. Should this be installed as default with ubuntu? or am I missing something? (I'm missing many things) but what specifically am I missing? If I look in the X11R6 directory all I see is the directory "bin" Thanks. SorivenulJanuary 28th, 2009, 06:46 AMTry: sudo apt-get install libx11-dev Then try your compile again. gunterhausfrauJanuary 28th, 2009, 06:50 AMyep, that's what did it. Thanks. brent.of.all.peopleAugust 13th, 2009, 12:23 PMyep, that's what did it. Thanks. Hey, I'm trying to get the morse2led package to work too. I got it to compile and install, but blinker doesn't seem to have any effect. Were you able to get it to work? Powered by vBulletin Version 4.2.2 Copyright © 2016 vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
