I seem to remember a loader command to update the cache, can anyone remind me what it is?NB: I have an Intel Core2 Duo E7300 CPU, and would like to underclock/undervolt it to get some power savings, as I am running at less than 20% cpu most of the time, even with 720p content. I thought I would do the frequency stuff in the OS and do the undervoltage stuff in the BIOS (unless someone can tell how to undervoltage in the OS).Thanks. The acpi-cpufreq module offers voltage scaling in addition of frequency scaling. You should use that inst

For me, doing this worked: Go in as root: edit no such device the file '/etc/cpu/cpuspeed.conf' Uncomment the DRIVER line, and set it to 'p4-clockmod' My celeron doesnt work with acpi-cpufreq, nor stepspeed or powernow. This seemed to be the only driver working on my Celeron for the new kernel. Never got the error since then. Christy16th November 2005, 02:35 AMgreenorange, Thanks for posting this, it's the first thing I've found that worked on my computer since I started trying to fix this error. Christy greenorange16th November 2005, 04:37 PMI actually disabled my cpuspeed even though I fixed it (the driver was bad; my box was making odd sounds and the daemon slowed my apps). This cpuspeed is a powermanagement tool; It makes the cpu run at different frequencies depending on workload, disabling it makes it work at maximum - ideal for laptops to save battery, but not for desktops. To disable, enter the Desktop - System Settings - Services, and uncheck cpuspeed. DO NOT STOP IT, or it will halt the cpu on the frequency its currently set to, and you will need to reboot. However, if youre fine with the cpuspeed, dont worry about it. Christy17th November 2005, 04:29 AMI noticed the slow apps too. Never though of disabling it... Will give it a try. callcbe7926th November 2005, 07:08 PMI too had the same problem. I first edited cpuspeed.conf file and replaced it wi

The ACPI governor worked since fc3 onwards on this machine, so it must be a regression that the acpi-cpufreq driver won't load anymore. Comment 3 Gen Zhang 2006-10-26 05:21:34 EDT
