Computer Science Linux Problem Solving Computer ProgrammingHow do I solve "error: no such partition. Entering rescue mode-grub rescue>"?UpdateCancelAnswer Wiki6 Answers John Weintraub, Soon to be certified by LPI & Linux+, Linux Foundation & Novell SuseWritten 70w agoPhilip beat me https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-solve-error-no-such-partition-Entering-rescue-mode-grub-rescue to the answer. Messages like the one you received mean that your boot-loader (GRUB) dos not exist on that partition. So as Philip mentioned, you should re-attach the drive you dismounted or physically removed, or restore GRUB http://www.supergrubdisk.org/wizard-restore-grub/ as he suggests. But before you do that, try and figure out what you did immediately before the message occurred when you booted up. Obviously, you rebooted from something when the message came up, so you were no such doing something, so what was it? And if it was nothing that you did except reboot, then your hard drive or flash NAND memory device MAY be failing (whatever you booted from that gave you the message). If you can install Hiren's BOOTCD repair from here (Hiren & Pankaj's Homepage " www.hiren.info) and install it to a USB drive, it includes Gparted, and you can test and possibly repair your partitions and MBR using it.14.8k no such partition Views · View Upvotes · Answer requested by Benjamin SharonRelated QuestionsMore Answers BelowI just deleted a partition I was having alongside Ubuntu. You are prompted to choose between Windows and Gnu/Linux. Whatever the reason is you decide to reinstall Windows (not to be mistaken with resetting a Laptop to factory defaults which usually wipes all the hard disk). After having reinstalled Windows you realise that only Windows boots. There's no longer a GRUB menu so that you can choose either Gnu/Linux or Windows. Windows seven starts Grub is no longer there GRUB fails to load after having removed one of your Gnu/Linux installations while having a second Gnu/Linux installation This error might show as error: no such partition. grub rescue> but you don't have to mistake this problem with the one that happens when you delete Gnu/Linux partition when it lives next to a Windows OS. Grub is unable to find its own partition GRUB no longer shows after restoring partition from backup Most of the programs nowadays
