But whenever I get an exception (for example if I use getByPrimaryKey with a primary key that does not exist) : it launches the exception "this primary key does not exist..." but the problem is that

it deletes the session facade bean. So when I try to continue to use the bean, I get the following error : java.rmi.NoSuchObjectException: Bean has been deleted. Do you know why does it delete the bean, and how would it be possible to avoid this behaviour ? Many Thanks 736Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 7 replies 1. pertaining to NoSuchObjectException and NoSuchObjectLocalException, which are thrown when a Stateful Session Bean (SFSB) has timed out or has been removed. Symptom The following exceptions are thrown: java.rmi.NoSuchObjectException javax.ejb.NoSuchObjectLocalException Cause Note: This analysis applies to Stateful Session Beans (SFSBs) only. The EJB specification defines the https://community.oracle.com/thread/1574133 meaning of these two exceptions when the invocation of an SFSB causes either of these exceptions to be thrown. However, sometimes users feel these exceptions are incorrect. In determining whether that is the case or not, you must determine if they are misunderstood, or if they http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21289468 indicate a problem with WebSphere Application Server. This document looks at the cases where these exceptions are thrown due to a user calling a timed out or removed SFSB. For example, an exception is thrown when a removed or timed out SFSB instance is invoked: Remote case: java.rmi.NoSuchObjectException: Stateful bean BeanId(ExceptionTestEAR#ExceptionTest.jar#MySFSBTest, BF7D926B-0112-4000-E000-18E0C0A80064) was removed or timed out. vmcid: 0x0 minor code: 0 completed: No Local case: javax.ejb.NoSuchObjectLocalException: ; nested exception is: com.ibm.ejs.container.SessionBeanTimeoutException: Stateful bean CMStatefulBeanO(BeanId(ExceptionTestEAR#ExceptionTest.jar#MySFSBTest, BF7DBC79-0112-4000-E000-18E0C0A80064), state = METHOD_READY) timed out The underlined text above indicates that the user is calling an SFSB instance that has timed-out or has been removed. If you see the SessionBeanTimeoutException, this means that the bean has been marked as timed out. However, you must verify in trace that the SFSB instance has truly been removed or has tim

Here is the original forum thread that leads to this:http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=114200and there are couple of user forums that reported this issue as well. E.g.,http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=96087andhttp://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=65304Basically, in NamingContext, we use a WeakReferenceMap to cache the jndi server stub information.on the client side. So during a server restart, unless the reference has been gc-ed (e.g., if -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval is defaulted to 60 seconds and server restart takes longer than that time), another client request (e.g., ic.lookup(name)) will result in an exception: java.rmi.NoSuchObjectException: no such object in tableHere is a simple code snippet to reproduce it: while (isTrue) { try { Context naming = new InitialContext (); home = (TestSLSBHome)naming.lookup ("TestSLSB"); gd = home.create (); boolean succeed = false; succeed = gd.isSuccessful(); System.out.println("The call is successful: " + succeed); try { // Manual pause here System.out.println("Please hit enter to continue"); System.in.read(); } catch (Exception ignored) { } } catch(Exception e) { System.out.println("**** Exception happened ...."); } So this is obviously a flaw since we can't depend on the dgc to recycle the server stub. A proper way that I propose is to specifically catch the NoSuchObjectException in the lookup() code. When we encounter such an exception, we would flush out the server from the cache and do a fresh lookup again. It should be a simple fix that won'
